I am in the middle of planning my Hilux build. I have a 88 SR5 Extra Cab.
I am wanting to put an 80 Series Diff under the front with all the suspension and brackets off the cruiser.
Can I shorten an 80 Series diff to a standard Hilux width utilizing the Hilux inner axles?
I am aware that the inner Hilux spline is the same as the 80. Will the Hilux axle fit into the 80 CV?
My other option is try and use the brackets off the 80 diff and place on the Hilux housing.
Will the outer swivel balls from the 80 weld into the Hilux axle?
Hope some one has some knowledge of this.
Thanks

I have an 80 series high pinion front diff with an aussie locker in my truck but I used the mini truck housing. The hp is a direct swap. Why do you want to use the 80 housing? Seems like a lot more work than its worth.

x2. Just put the front 80 HP diff in your housing. If you really want to upgrade then buy an 80 HP elocker diff. That will also drop into your front axle housing with some minor modifications.

Thanks for the reply team.
Several reasons for the extra work.
I want to use all the 80 suspension and also steering.
I can get a complete diff cheap which will give me bigger CV's and also steering (I wont have to purchase a hi-steer set up), muy issue is i dont want the additional width of the 80 axle. I am happy to perform all the wor to make a hybrid.
Cheers
I have a 1UZFE and A341E auto to put in this so the more strength i can get the better.
