so true sorry bud . Yea I remember your 60 and 80 and you having plenty seat time in them when I had my first 40 back in 96 or around that time frame. I'd sure take those gas prices now.
man if the gas prices would have stayed as low as they are now i might have kept the war pig.................i guess key word is might, and i might end up with back when the young man who purchased it enlists when he graduates.
all i know is the last two times i have been tempted to buy anoither 80 when in the market for another toyota i guess i just could not bring myself to do it and that is not b/c of price. the tuck has great attributes and some incredible shortcomings. those become apparent the longer you own one.
i loved the 80, and do miss it in certain ways. they are great trucks and you 80 owners def have the support of the aftermarket.
when i was trail ridin' my 80, the guys at the events would send me on some "duck " missions and when i came back to camp where really amazed at the fact the truck came back first, then without damage.
back then it had the image of an overgrown grocery getter.
plush and rugged. it will take some getting used to. as about as reliable as any vehicle on the road today.
hell just look at any vehicle made in 1997 and just give it the good eye like your doin to the toyota.
it looks dated and the damn thing is fallin apart at the welds.
more than likely does not run well and the only parts you can get for it are mexican reman nafta parts.
the toyota is a no brainer. hell you can still get most rubber for the 40 series from a toyota dealership in new iberia......
just be prepared to PAY for owning a toyota.
mike's truck is very nice.
if iwere to buy a gasser80 that is the one and it is local.
my next venture is a diesel.
