Didn't think there was a local West Marine but Isaac is on target.

WestMarine 12v Outlets

Where I ordered mine from.

me

New Orleans, Lake Charles, Mandeville, Baton Rouge, Houma, maybe in Slidell still...not sure if it is still open. New Orleans is the best and Baton Rouge is the worst.

Yea there is one on Johnston St next to the Albertsons. They had the single but I ordered the double and triple that will be in next Wednesday. Thanks :)

If I knew you were going today I could have given you a code for 50% off most things in the store. Sorry. All of the West Marines never have what you are looking for. They almost aways have to order what I need.

missed that one by hairs.

Sorry to hear that bud. If they don't cut oil production they may start to get a little more expensive. $2.43 a gallon over here. Get them while you can.

wish i would have just stored the war pig.......

really i would like another 80 but i think i am toying with the idea of a 70 pickup or diesel hilux.

and you and i know where them toyotas are still sold new!

yes and they have to be a certain age.

sparkplug has moved his 60 series if memory serves me nine times on a ship to and from south america.

i will find the toyota trails i have or dig the thread up here on mud.

can you import them easliy?

It has to be 25 years old and it is a piece of cake in Louisiana. I know a custom agent who will do it for $300 dollars if it comes to the Port of Orleans. Or it can be any age and you can get a title of an American model that has been trashed/wrecked but does not have a salvaged title. Then drive it through Mexico into the USA with that title. (Highly illegal and not recommended but it has been done)

Or you can ship any vehicle to Houston and have a Registered importer spend about $7000 dollars proving that it passes EPA and DOT USA standards even though that model never was imported into the USA. They hold your truck for about 6 months and it is not guaranteed. Most people think that Registered importers can just help you as a customs agent but the one in Houston works with EPA and DOT so it will get a badge of compliance after it is tested by EPA and DOT.

There are many threads here on MUD about importing.

Also the state DMV can give you a hard time too.

My 60 has been shipped to other countries but it was a USA model to start with so bringing it back into the USA was no problem. It sports EPA and DOT USA compliance. What almost got me in trouble was having it too long in a foreign country. Most countries will only allow you to have your vehicle in their country for 3 months and then it has to leave for 72 hours. After that it can come back into the country for another 3 months. So after 6 months and 3 days it will then have to be registered in that country and that means huge import taxes. Hope this helps.

Oh beondlogic, you could also completely take apart a vehicle put it in a 20 or 40 foot shipping container and bring it into the USA as parts. U.S. Customs couldn't hold it at the port of entry because it technically isn't a vehicle. It could always be a trail rig legally but not legal on a State or Federal road.

Scott, nice to see all the mods you did. From this picture you can see the slders paid off . If not it looks like the bottom of the door would have taken the hit.

Thanks Dan that'll be the last to go on as I'll wear these AT's for as long as I can put up with them. They were next to new when I got the 80 and no real complaints with them so far :) I'll go with the 315 Toyo's or possibly try the Cooper STT's they look like they copied the Toyo design and $200 dollars cheaper on the set :hmm:

Holla at Chris before you pull the trigger on tires. He say's that the set of 315Firestone Destination MT's that we gave away is a very affordable tire. Just a thought.

Not much sleep Friday night so played around in the shop and worked on the radio, dash and console a bit to be more user friendly. This little pioneer avh p4000 was a great bang for the buck and had a bunch of great options to add in. Added I-phone cable, usb for mini harddrive access, additional outputs for rear head units, rear camera ready, amp jacks, touch screen, Divx capable. Had to do some digging to get around the ebrake safety because it does sense motion but the FJ forums sowed me the little toggle switch option and the kids enjoyed the fruits of that little trick driving around town this weekend. Also added a wal-mart extra two cup holder to the e-brake side of the console and had to do some trimming but I like it already and has a coin bucket in the middle. West Marine will have my additional 12v outlets coming in Wed that will be added to the shift area with 4 ports and I'll also add input video and audio flush mount jacks to the rear of the center console with a two port 12v source for the rear pass. Its a work in progress but it kept the mind occupied. :)

Look'in good Larry. Between you and Scott's rig next hurricane season I'm camping out in y'all rigs when the power goes out. Y'all have more power options in the 80/450LX than my house!

That's my radio f_cker!! :flipoff2:

...and it took your CB spot..

...just say, "yes" to the ash tray ;)

Looks good

I found a 97 LC in Houma with 155K. I'm gun shy, cuz it'll have to be my daily driver. My goal is to go see it in person this week. I flipped open my Overland Journal and there was an article about an expedition ready 97 that did the Alaskan Cruicer Trek. I see Scott driving his every day now, and Landry is my hero storming through town with his. Oh decisions, decisions.
