im looking for an 80 so i can start really cutting on my 40 and still have a DD. i've seen a couple on CL that are either trashed or $10k i might also be willing to trade my 40 for an absolutely expo ready bad ass 80. probably limited to the east coast, unless you got a killer deal on shipping or an amazing trade. what you got?

is that your 40 in your avatar? I hope not if you are going to be doing some "real cutting" on it that thing looks sweet...

anyway I am in tuscaloosa I searched for over two years before I found my 80, prices always go up when there is snow on the ground up north. They will start coming back down from a peak price when it starts to warm up.

of course there are always exceptions to the rule but from my experience thats how prices went during my search. Have you tried using autotempest.com to search craigslist?

I just stalked your "First start checklist?" thread, you have a gorgeous 40.... the kind I hope to have one day.
good luck with the search.

Thanks! I'm going Saturday to check out a 92 3fe with 275k on it but it's immaculate for $2k. x'ing fingers:)

heading down to look at this one tomorrow, it has 275000 on the 3fe, but if its been maintained mechanically as well as the interior was i think it will do perfectly. plus i talked em down to $2k on the phone

1992 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 4X4

other than head gasket / cooling issues / normal test drive stuff, anything major i should be on the look out for? i plan on jacking it up and checking the whole undercarriage, drivetrain, steering, etc...

91-92's are 3FE's shoudln't worry about head gaskets. If you havn't looked... Slee - 80 Series Land Cruiser Newbie Guide

thank you, yes i have been pouring over as much information as i can. i had it narrowed down to a 91-92 for that reason alone, but have been getting conflicting answers lately. some people seem to detest the 3fe and tell me to stick with the 4.5
