Hi,
Did you ever figure out the measurements to your engine stand. I would like to fabricate one as well.
Thanks.
Mathew

Hi Mathew,
I ended up enlarging a couple of the slots on my engine stand to get it to work. It worked out fine. Good luck on your project.

Marvin

I haven't made much progress at all this week but I snapped a couple of new pics last night.

I did what someone suggested in another MUD thread and made some new hood hinge pins. I just cut down a couple of new door hinge pins to the right length and the bushings fit perfect.

I got a new glove box plate from AATLAS1X and put it on so the dash is almost 100% complete now. I also got a bunch of decals and a pair of rebuilt door limiters from him. All of his stuff is top notch. Thanks Shane , if you ever visit this thread.

Hopefully I'll get some stuff done on it this weekend.

Your dash storage box is pretty cool. I've seen them b4 in various photos. I am going to make one for my 45 to accomodate my cage 'A' pillars and cross bar. I was struggling to figure out how to have the box go full width but now seeing yours and how it ends before the side vents and windscreen latches I believe I'll do the same. Thanks for the pic.

The only airbag in this truck sits behind the steering wheel. ;)

I did some workshop cleaning this weekend and I have just got to get some of this stuff out of my way. This stuff is in pretty rough shape but if anyone wants any of it they can have it. I'll hang on to it for a little while before It gets recycled.

Both front fenders have some bondo, dents, cracks and rust. Rear wheel wells are rusted through near the bottom, especially in the front and rear. The gas tank well is actually in really good shape.

I really don't want to ship this stuff if I don't have to. I guess the rear wheel wells could be boxed up and shipped pretty easily. I could coordinate with someone to get it out via Mudship maybe. I'm not very far from San Antonio.

someone should grab those rear wheel wells - they are in "very usable" condition, not bad at all. Mine were crushed from years of heavy use so I had to make new ones. :grinpimp:

They are in pretty good shape except for the small strip that is rusted out along the bottoms.

That gas tank well is in really good shape. It had some sort of coating on it that protected it very well. It doesn't even really have any surface rust on it. I suppose if someone wanted it, I could cut that section down small enough to get it into a box for shipping. It's free if anyone wants any of it.

Thanks Destin,
It's Freeborn Red. I decided to go with the original color on this truck.

I've never painted anything red before and it's kind of a PIA. It seems to me that red doesn't cover very well and it takes a lot of paint.

looking good!

what color red is that>?

:D

I imagine that you've finished the truck and you're driving the #@&! out of it.You've probably forgotten all about this thread.I PM'd you about some of your spare parts anyway.

The truck looks great!

Beautiful truck ! Are you going to run a A/C system in it or keep it stock?

Thank you,
For now, I'm going to keep it stock. I've still got a lot of work to do on the doors, rear cab section and roof so I'm going to put a bikini to on it. It may not seem like it right now, but cooler days are just around the corner here in Texas.

Thank you,
I got your PM and I've still got the parts. They're yours. Let me see if I can find a box for them and I'll get back to you asap.

I'm updating this ancient thread because I'm about to do something that is going to make a big difference in how much I enjoy this Land Cruiser.

Warmer weather is near and I plan to drive this truck quite a bit.

I remember reading threads years ago about seat mods to make the FJ45 more comfortable to drive. From memory, the recommendations were to raise the seat 1.5 to 2.0 inches.

The truck I bought already had that modification done. It had 2.5" spacers welded on to the bottom of all of the seat mounting points.

Today, I unbolted the front mounts on the driver's seat and wedged a 1.5" 2X4 under it to see if it made much difference.

Wow, with 4" spacers up front and 2.5" in the rear, I finally have a comfortable seating position. I am only 6' and about 200lb, but this truck was somewhat uncomfortable to drive before. I can't believe how much difference this made.

Of course, you couldn't do this if the hard top was on the truck. For this reason I don't ever plan to install the hard top. The back of the driver's seat is right up against the back of the cab in this position.

I'd rather drive it without the hard top in comfort than with the top on, in misery.

very nice. say i got the bed togethere put on and in primer. i need to take a few pics and send them to you. she don't look any thing like she used to. if i could put pics i would be oh well.

I finally got around to snapping a picture of the rear bumper/hitch that I came up with for my truck. I made it using a set of leftover Frontier-gear side steps that were manufactured wrong and a used receiver hitch that's been laying around here forever. I really wanted one of the Con-Fer step bumpers, but I never could find one for sale.

I just recently put the Toyota letters on the tailgate. They really dressed up the rear of the truck.

Where did you get the Toyota letters for the tailgate?
