Looking for the speaker mounting plate that the speaker mounts to on the side of the glove box. This is for a '78 FJ40. Not sure what other years use the same bracket.

I'm pretty sure I have one, but I'll have to search for it.

I've got a mount from a '78. No speaker. PM if you don't have one yet.

Sorry it took so long, but I finally found that speaker mount (no speaker). I'll clean it up and post a photo or two tomorrow.

Thanks but 77TLCFJ40 found one already. BTW, have you ever visited Japan since? I've not really had a reason to. I've been to the PI a couple times to scuba dive with a friend but that's it.

No problem.

The last time I was in Japan was Yokosuka in the early to mid 90s, doing design work on the USS Saratoga.

The last time in the Philippines was Subic just before Pinatubo blew, so maybe early 91. Subic was run by the Philippine military then and there was a "Aim High, Olongopo" campaign being run by the mayor of Olongopo. It was different. :p

Edit: This is the same as the spare I have. This is in the glove box of my other '76. There is a round hole in the glove box outboard of this with two weldnuts for the speaker mounting. My '78 did not have a radio when I bought it new and it does not have this shield or the hole in the glove box.

Bump. Haven't been able to locate a '78 bracket yet. Earlier models used a protective cover inside the glovebox itself incompatible with the '78. Not sure if the same design carried over to '79 and beyond.

Agreed. I have one from a '76 like that pictured as well as one from a '78, like you want. I'll look around for it and send you a PM if I can find it. It has a speaker in it. Do you need the speaker as well?

I don't have the original speaker, but it would be nice to install one if it still sounds ok. The OEM (not stock to my '78) mono FM radio sounds surprisingly good with an old 2-Ohm speaker connected. From what I can tell the original bracket looks like this one. Just no luck finding one yet.

Virtually certain I have a few of those. Never sold one tho. No idea what they're worth. If you're game, call me with your one-shot best offer.

Has anybody ever upgraded the single speaker in the glove box? I kind of like radio, and I am not really interested in bluetooth options right now, as I prefer that it is wired.

Have one and a speaker. PM me if you still need it

I do
