June 76 rustic green patina machine. Excellent running and daily summer driver. Not driven in the winter. Southern California rig now living in north Lake Tahoe Nevada. Mostly original paint and interior. Looks very good from twenty feet definitely a great patina with some red primer showing lightly through in some areas. Always gets great comments and feedback about the paint and the color. Some small dents and dings. Could use a passenger front fender but this one looks the part and is very functional. Acquired five years ago from Southern California. Very rust free. The reason why we bought it. Very difficult to find one this rust free. Original 2f and four speed starts every time and runs very well. Odometer is just over 125k and appears to be the original mileage. Has a working con-ferr second gas tank system. Fully caged and well done with good foot access and nice layout. Unfortunately it is not getting much use and is ready for a new home. More pictures to come and available on request. found it here on mud and hope it goes to a good home. 25k o.b.o.

Are the rear fenders cut? I assume so with the flares.

Pretty sure. It came from San Diego and had California plates on it when I got it. Have not changed anything . Original carb no header.

I can say nothing has changed sense it came from California a few years ago. How it had California plates on it when we got it I don’t know. Other than it did. It is currently registered in Nevada and smog testing is not required for this area. California,I believe ,it is a two step process the first being a visual inspection. Second is the sniffing machine. It appears mostly unmodified stock carburetor and exhaust. Enough to pass visual inspection? Could be..I can only speculate that not many people know exactly what it is supposed to look like under the hood for every vehicle. step one can quickly become step two and if it passes the sniff machine it passes… I think.
I would imagine someone would have what it is missing in the classifieds.
I’m sure someone else will have some insight.

With this question I can only think of one way to try and make a little more clarity. I will go by the smog place Monday and ask them about this and see what they have to say about it and then I will let you know what they say. Or smell .. Can’t wait to find out more.

Nice 40, but do you see all those holes on the driver side fender? That's where all the smog equipment used to be. You can also see the little red cap on the air cleaner. Originally, there would have been a hose coming from the smog equipment into that port. The smog pump is probably also missing. Highly unlikely that this would pass smog, especially in California.

The missing smog bits are an issue for California residents. The smog tech was very informative. For older cars he said they sniff first then they inspect systems. Basically if the sniff goes well they don’t nit pick it as much. He called it 80/20. Obviously still stock carburetor and no header. The missing pump and two hoses would be the most obvious. Carb fan not so much. Luckily not much there for first year. Tough to find a good view of the system. I see a pump on Craig’s. Probably some available on here. Definitely California is challenging to bring any vehicle in from out of state.

Big fines for smog techs here in california. Not many willing to risk the visual inspection, but there are some still that can be pursuated with $$$. BAR will shut down the shop!
