Brand new to the group and request some feedback from you guys that obviously know what you are talking about. I just picked this up on eBay and got some additional pictures after the sale. I see a lot of gloss black and red which may be covering some things up. Seller says there is no rust at all on this vehicle. Do you see any need for concern?

TJ96TLC said you guys would shoot me straight with good honest feedback, so that's why I ran straight to this site with the aftermath. You all make good points. I made several attempts to get additional pictures during the auction to no avail. It sounds like I wasn't the only one to do so. Yeah, the title is still in someone else's name that lives in Colorado. I agree that he used a very loose interpretation of it looking like it just rolled off the assembly line. I too would provide an abundance of pictures if I was the seller, but not getting anything else from him. I haven't paid a deposit or anything as he wants a cashiers check or money wired to his account. It sold last week to someone else, but seller claims the buyer didn't have the funds. I hate to back out of a deal, but want to get what I pay for and this site is probably the best place to find just that.

If you didn't know about the title situation prior to biddding then there is no problem saying that you wouldn't be able to register it. Sounds like he picked it up to flip and if he is not a dealer he needs to pay taxes on it. I know in my state I wouldn't be able to register the truck. State this to him and tell him that you don't expect negative feedback as this wasn't disclosed.

Edit: Looks like that was disclosed

Based on the ad the pics aren't real high quality. Seems like he was trying to hide something. Also looking at the pics a little better the left rear side of the top seems to be pushed in a little.

I am another one that recommends you to NOT get this truck there is a fishiness about this rig you will be sorry. There will be others that will come along for you that will flow out right and the details will be crystal clear.
Best of luck

I bailed on it, so look for it to pop back up on eBay over the next couple of days. Better safe than sorry. I'm going to keep my eye open for a late 70's or early 80's FJ within this group. Thanks again for all the advice.

Smart move to be patient. I wasn't and it cost me some headaches. Glad you had the sense to walk away and to take the advice of members on MUD...this site has helped me immensely.

Smart move to be patient./QUOTE]

This is great advice. There have been some great trucks that have come across this site for what you are looking to pay. Just give it some time. Learn about them and what to look for. When the right one comes up be ready to jump on it.
