Took a break today from the rear area and finished one of the upper fender pieces with some sanding, priming, filling, sanding, priming, then paint. Jesus this is almost not enjoyable.

Had sometime today so I swung by the pick a part. Saw a thread on here about BMW seats. So I figured I’d give it a go for $60. Adjust for up, down, back, forward, and tilt forward too since it was a two door 96 318T BMW. I have the Bestop non adjustable seats now with frames from CCOT the previous owner installed so we’ll see.

Original jumpseat brackets weren’t where i wanted them to be due to the rust. New ones fabbed up.

Pretty productive day. Got the passenger side panel welded in. Zero fitment issues. Also got inside the channel support with chassis saver before I lost access. Plus found a tarp at work to repurpose.

Even though it’s a 75’ I have pretty much decided it’s going to be spring green once I’m done. A guy selling his 40 locally twisted my arm on the color.

Got this too. Seems to be the original power steering setup for the Fj. Not I just have to figure out if I’m lucky enough for this to bolt right up.

Found this brand new at a yard sale today. Paid $25
The box doesn't look like a Toyota box. The reservoir looks like Saginaw. The stock reservoir mounted remotely to the fender and obviously didn't have a pulley. Saginaw might be the same for the box. You can see where they welded on the steering column to accept the shaft.

So I should be able to do the conversion with it though right?
Yes, but it will need grinding, drilling and welding. I would do it by using J6 series steering box (like I am just doing). Much cleaner look.

Well I can’t really figure out what i actually have for my attempts to add power steering. I’ve got four pumps I’ve acquired some with a 76 stamp or just a 6 stamped on the side. All with the “s” marking. So took a break from that and continued to repair the fenders. Once all the body work is done truck is off to a local shop to have the engine completely rebuilt for $3500. Looking at a vintage air kit for $2200 installed. Plus got a quote for a full tub pull paint job for $9600. That seems a bit excessive so I’ll continue to search around.
