Why do you need an aftermarket accessory drive?

Why do you need an aftermarket accessory drive?
Engine wasn't ordered with one...so water pump, PS mount, AC mount (if mounting a York - no AC planned for the truck), alt, etc....

I mean, is there a problem with all the OEM GM parts? They’re all readily available for both the car or truck setups and then you wouldn’t have any custom parts. I’m sure your shop informed you of this so I was curious what the reasoning was

Shop has had an order with GM Performance for a OEM GM accessory drive that has been back-ordered. Jeremiah asked me if I was ok with the cost increase to go with aftermarket (wanted high output alt, upgraded starter, and possibly a York anyway). Rather keep the project moving along than save a few bucks and continue waiting. Added bonus - the aftermarket kit is a bit narrower, so everything fits better in the SPACIOUS engine compartment 40's have. ;)

Suspension nearing completion. After messing around with the mock up, Jeremiah thinks they've generated enough up-travel that I might need the tube fenders to provide a little extra room. More suspension fabrication porn...

Round 2 of the data plates...just a minor change to the engine compartment plate and I'll have a perfect replacement for my resto-mod

Accessory Drive kit arrived, so time to get more of the engine compartment laid out. Steering shaft, brake booster, and brake lines...

Due to some emergency work in the shop, not much happened with my truck the past month. However...fenders looking pretty good all of the sudden ;)

Minor re-shaping of the aprons to fit the tube fenders....also decided on folded steel running boards/sliders which will be look factory-ish when done.

Yea - not something that'll crumple when I run the Rubicon. These will be welded to the frame and powder coated when the frame gets it. Then the body colored line-x will be sprayed on top for traction:cool:
