I am having problems finding even a simple tuneup kit for my 72 fj40. The Auto parts store ordered it all and it ended up the wrong stuff. Distributor was too small so everything was wrong. I took it back and went to the dealer. They ordered the kit and it came in today but was wrong too. Too small. I took some pics so why is it so hard to find a tune up kit for this? Here is a pic of what I have.

Give me some info on what I have and where to find a tune up kit. Thanks.

Is that a Toyota distributor?

Doesn't mean much...Delco distributors were put on a lot on LandCruiser back in the day. Clean it off and look for some numbers and/or a name.
Also, search "Trollhole Distributor" and see if you can afford one. Simple fix.

This distributor came with my 78 fj40. It was in a box of extra parts. Do you think this would fit my 72 fj40? There is no #'s on this so I do not know if it will work or not but its new.

It's not a Toyota distributor.
Probably a very old Delco.
Sure does look like it. Just ask your local parts store dweeb for points for a 1966 Chevy pickup I6. Should drop right in. BTDT. John

Please don't. Don't spend another penny on that time bomb. A few minutes research on year with the key words Delco dizzy should yield a few dozen horror stories about how many engines were ruined by those dizzies.

I bought what was left of my very first cruiser from just such an unlucky soul. the very first time I drove in to SOR with my rig, Marv told me to treat that thing like a hand grenade: pull and throw it as far as you can!

I am dead serious.
