We are most of the way through an off-body restoration of a 71 FJ40. We have what seems to be one of the "under covers" - it matches part number 51441 in the suspension - cross member - under cover parts schematic. Does anyone know how this thing actually mounts??

Nothing personal but I'm not downloading anything from a newbie - post it in the clear not as an attachment
I believe it mounts to the frame, BEFORE the radiator is installed.
Does your schematic look like my Toyota issued ancient microfiche?
I just looked at my 63' 45 and yes it appears sandwiched between frame and rediator mount. There feels like there are holes in the side to bolt to the frame (I can deflect it up and down in the back) that I never re-installed when I had the truck apart to paint in 1982? LOL, apparently I'm still getting to those! So yes, if you have one (or get one) it wil be installed with the radiator frame, and additional bolts are apparently "optional"!
One bolt on each frame rail side and the radiator cradle bottom studs through the front two holes.

does anyone have a photo of the cover in place
That goes on the pass side frame rail under the battery. Curved part towards the starter.
