I'm knee deep in my 71 frame off resto and finally need to start making some of those critical decisions.

After spending the weekend fine tuning my HFT blast cabinet I'm ready to start painting the running gear on my pig. I want to stay as true to factory as possible, but I'm having a difficult time finding any good pics that show colors and finishes.

So are there any opinions out there? All black, satin finish, or matte or gloss.

any feedback would be great.

I think semi-gloss black would be stock...that's what I painted most of my block. Any aluminum and copper bits should be polished and clear-coated, Pig axles should be pink, driveshafts should be candy-cane pattern in pink/black...in my humble opinion.
Of course, there's always the "Big Gay" option...

:lol:Pink axles...I second vote for semi flat black. I have considered olive, but that's prolly just me.....

treeroot sprayed his 40 axles with por 15 and looked sweet for years! i would love to do that. note tho...wear an industrial mask....the fumes left him loopy for a few days

Check out an Eastwood catalog, they have all the paint colors for cast, aluminum, cadium, blacks, etc, etc, with a standard frame/engine diagram that shows what parts are what colors. I'm sure there is a lot of difference between manufactures but it may give you some ideas. I'm not sure if they have the paint diagram online, but it is printed in their free catalog.
