I mean in general, most, if not, all the car and truck here have a windshield stick on the car's body. So i wonder is there an advantage to have a windshield insert in a weatherstrip like the landcruiser... hum maybe i miss something ? more pratical with an utility truck? The shop where i been, all says it is very old?, then i respond , it is still like that today. I remember my 1982 toyota truck was with a weatherstrip but not the tacoma (hilux).
anyway i'm just curious.

The 7* series bodies are fairly flexible and if you dont have a slotted rubber seal,it could fall out.

Like Wayne says ,its all about the savings in material costs as well as the labour to fix it and the weight of the materials.

Accept the weather strip as a remnant from days when vehicles were meant to last longer.

my drivers window shattered really fine. my glass mate tells me that they are meant to break/shatter into really small pieces, as that allows it to take more force/distributes it. Instead of that piece of glass flying at your head. They are laminated, it's just as visable as you think

Hi there, just got my glass installed (i was on water for 2 month). There was no room for mistake, $$$, i could't affort 2 glass. So i glued it to the body frame with urethane (like any other car...civic,tundra etc). it work, and NO leak... now i will take insurance for the glass! i bought a 3/4 strip and i glued it outside around the windshield to make it look nice. I will go off road for a "torsion test"... thank every one. Justin
