i still dont knnow how they can claim it to be a 99

It looks great but I'm always suspicious of vehicles that pop up for sale regularly.
And 38000 klms since 1999 is less than 4k per year:confused:

Yeah, same truck, same number plate but different auction ids. Does the plate go with the vehicle in NZ?

. Does the plate go with the vehicle in NZ?

I believe so,unless they have custom number plates where the owner purchases them and transfers them to his new ride.

I would like to see the body tag to see what it actually started out as from toyota ..im guessing prado?

I sent him an email about who and how it was built. Stay tuned;)

I got an email from the current owner. He thinks it was built from 99 cab chassis with the rear door extension coming from a 5 dr 78 series prado .
Done at at home in the previous owners garage in Auckland

Sounds like the most logical way to me

yea sounds ok as the 79s have the longest chassis
but then if it is a 99 chassis that must be the only 99 bit im thinking
6 wheel studs
pre 99 cluster
prado front doors
itd be cool to see the front springs if there prado ones with the shockie in side or 78,79 series front spring set up
still a cool ride but

70 Series Double Cab Ute / Bakkie

Hi!
I know this is an old thread, but can anyone please help me? I just have to get one of those South African Style Cruzers, the 70 series double cab conversion!

I have searched all over Australia, but the conversions I have seen doesn't look near as good.

Is it right that they are being built up from a 79 (ute) and have no chassis extension?

It would be interesting to know if anyone has imported one or alternatively sent one over for the build. Or if there is anyone here or in NZ that have made one like that.

Cheers!

Were in aus are you ,
there is a guy in Perth that builds duel cabs of all styles and does chassis extentions , he is doing a 105 series into a ute ATM and it looks great, I can get his details if your interested

I am in Bundaberg. There are people in Brissy and Cairns doing conversions too but haven't found anyone do it like that Meano, build up from the 79 chassis without extension and will full doors.

I am interested in the Perth bloke's details though.

Haha That Crusier on the first page has my old diffs in it.
Its a LJ78 LWB chassis, extendend.....Have photo's under it.
Did a real nice job. But used two motors.... First one was a good runner, but had a rag in the pipe work from the turbo to head. New owner didnt check ducting after engine install and before clamping up and starting her up..
Sad to say it injested the rag and stuffed the valves.
I took it for a drive, was a real slug.....but I think something was not right with the tuning...

information request.

okay, buddy, enough with the carrot dangling. :bang:
you know i have been wanting to do the same with my 78 so PICS PLEASE sent to wayne@crushersrule.com of all you have of this build. :bounce::bounce2:
