Sorry to make light of the injury but... A repetitive motion injury while gripping "something" firmly is grounds for snickering. I am a high school teacher and as a result have the sense of humor of a pubescent boy. That said, I am truly sorry for any injury that keeps you all from working on or enjoying your rigs. May you all heal quickly.
No apology needed - just be sure you post here when you develop tendinitis from whatever it is you are repetitively gripping
Edit: Sorry - premature send...
And may you eventually teach a more mature student![]()
I started doing 15 reps 3 times a day with the green bar. For the first few days it hurt, but I limited it by not twisting the bar fully and therefore not flexing my wrist so much. You can also increase the mount of force on any bar by moving your hands closer together, so the red bar should work too as you need more force. After 3-4 days it started feeling more like when you get a massage on a pulled muscle: It hurt so good. I twisted the bar more and harder to stretch more. I carried the bar aroung with me and started doing more reps.
It is supposed to work by stretching the extensor muscles that the tendons are attached to, which lessens the tension on the tendon at rest. For me the results were amazing. The chronic pain went away and never came back. When I start feeling elbow pain again, I work out some more with the bar.
Thank you for the "Tyler Twist" exercise info. It's been many, many years since my tendonitis situation. But, I am dealing with a similar situation in the upper arm. Several years ago the first Dr I went to just wanted to give me shots in the joint area and not tell me what I was actually dealing with. After finally finding a sports Dr who would actually tell me what I was dealing with, I was diagnosed as having calcium deposits. Well, this flared up again late last summer, subsided over the winter, and is coming back again now that I'm back outside with the better weather. I'm going to have to spend some time online to see if there is some similar type of exercising to be done.
