You know it's funny, after walking past my 42 in the driveway last night and thinking for the hundredth time, "goddammit, I don't want to sell it..."

I had a terrible idea last night.....anyone want to buy a good 3b and 5 speed outta my 42:grinpimp:

Do it quick while Mel's outta town.:hillbilly:

Won't you still need the 5 speed?... :hhmm:

How much you selling them for?

$1200. ( so that's about ten tanks of gas these days....)

It's a good 3b , lots of go, doesn't use any oil. .

Tcase will need a bearing kit, has a bit of play on the output. But it could be taken for a test burn.

5 speed shifts nicely.

I'll include a 12v starter and alt, and glow plugs of your chosen voltage ( have several sets) but that electrical stuff will be on a bit of a rain check until I tear apart the 60.

I'll kindof need it till then....:hillbilly:

Certainly intriguing... but I'll have to pass... not up to doing a conversion these days.

In case it was a deal I couldn't pass up... Like when Stephen sold one for $500.

Is this the same one?

Are you thinking of parting out your recently aquired 60? Not quite sure what you're thinking.

Not quite sure what you're thinking.

Join the club...... Except I do know what he's thinking.

(at least for now... things might change, my info is a few hrs. old now)

I'm picturing a 42 that can keep up with island speed limits and perhaps even break them..... crazy, I know... but possible.

I drove in the 60 this afternoon and honestly, it didn't suite Ryan. No rattles, didn't shake + brown two tone interior and although there is loads of room his "Crocodile Dundee" hat would look out of place to say the last. It did however pull like choir boy on Sunday evening before bed. It has the 5 bearing cam (040) casting and that sexy AXT.

Swap bits.... sell whats left over. Start saving for new tires. My .02 :)

heh, yeah it does pull...not sure a cruiser should really go that fast...

really the only questions are whether I part the 60 or put a half decent 3b into it and sell it as a running fj60 improvement kit, and how long this all takes.

Could drive it for a while too. there's stuff it needs to be a nice 60, and for the most part it's stuff I don't want to do.

if I was to sell the 3b and 5 speed out of mootard, it would make those decisions easier.

either way, I have two trucks with 3b's and 5 speeds...plus an extra 3b. Too much junk. must purge...

( also, either way I won't be needing new tires...I'm having those toyo's mounted to my freaking coffin.)

Running out of space in he goat barn...?

I don't know you that well, but haven't you been hoarding 3Bs for years... Have you been watching TLC again? Did you hit your head?;p

Nah, my brain damage is all alcohol induced.

Haven't really hoarded, I picked up that 5 speed from stephen because mootard had a s***ty 4 speed in it that screamed like a howler monkey.

it had a spare 3b attached that I was using to mock up brackets and manifolds and such, but now that I'm not doing much of that, it's just in the way.

it was always in the way, but at least was useful.

And as for having a good 3b and 5 speed kept as a spare, I'd rather have the $1k sitting in my wallet than on the shop floor. :meh:

I didn't pay a ton for the 60, so if I can flog off all the extra parts and end up with a very fresh 3b with an axt turbo, new head and new clutch in my 42 for about the cost of the clutch ( which I suspect it will need soon anyways), I'll be pretty happy, cause ol' mootard will haul some ass with that thing in it.

Hence the purge.

However, in the mean time, the 60 drives pretty nicely, so it's not like there's a panic.

Young Stephen is still attempting to Lau-ball me via PM for the yellow thing , ( even though I've taken down the ads ) so who knows. Maybe I'll be struck with a bout of lazyness and let him buy it.

I can understand the cash in pocket motivation... Much the same reason why I'm not buying it now in the hopes that I'll be up to swapping it in down the road. I'm tired if being unwell.

1200 is a pretty good deal... if you took that combo south you could get a 1000 for the tranny alone...

I've taken down the ads )

Too Bad, was really hoping you were going to turn into Crushers of the Island and turn that yellow thing into a troopy :hillbilly:

I don't disagree. It's more than I've got kicking around, and it may be a long time before I'd be able to do a swap... and I'm not rich enough to pay someone to do it.:crybaby:

Oh gawd..I just barfed a little bit at the thought of footlong shackles and decade long pissy spats with engineers...

EDIT...

And another period of 60 ownership comes to and end...not quite as destructively as the last time.
