60 series....Tech and Classifieds

So Im back in AJ. Just made 2 mistakes consecutively. Checked my bank account and saw the CZTE and other stuff stacking up and then looked at mud.

I see a new blue 60 in the club and of course Nolan showing off his junk. Wife has mentioned several times how she loves 60s. (Yes we are about to go here).

I saw this on ebay 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser Base Sport Utility 4-Door | eBay

How rare are these getting in good condition and what's this one worth? (Guys who currently own one)

Wife and I agree we want a family/weekender nothing over 33s, like the idea of stock. However part of me wants to say f it, find a solid body and interior and see if someone (bc we all know I can't wrench) could do a Toyota V8 in one.

Have ya'll seen this done? I am lusting over owning some old Toyota iron again. I've been in new ones virtually every day and the wife may get a 200 in the next 2 years, but the idea of a 60 is growing on me. 2 kids, dog, etc. and the 40 series just doesn't make sense right now.

I may even pitch it to her and start looking closer to end of tour. (give you guys something to hunt for also)

Thoughts, ideas, John your nuts comments?

60s are the coolest

As long as the first pic is worth the humiliation of this pic

And of course this is better mileage than my 100.....

John owning a 30 plus year old vehicle is gonna require some wrenching , but dang they are easy to work on and ya gotta love the simplicity of them. I love driving mine and it's reliability has been better than any vehicle I have ever owned. You might have the wife drive it before buying . Mine likes to ride but she won't drive mine. My dogs think it's their personal taxi as I rarely use the Hundy to haul them because the 60 has vinyl headliner and a rubber mat with the seats folded down and they can do a after swim shake inside and it just wipes off. A lot to be said of simple electronics , lock out hubs and manual everything, I gave up on 40,s years ago just for the lack of room. And a good 60 just drives so right

My wife does not enjoy driving mine either.

There is an top heavy nature to it. Overcorrecting by a non familiar driver could end up a disaster.

I don't think this is an issue with one with 31s and stock height suspension though. I run my swaybars and it's still present.

Find a nice 62 if your wife wants to drive it.

Adding a V8 to mine the way it is currently set up would leave me
Quite deficient in the steering and braking department.

My 60 was sputtering a few times on the trip.

I read up on it on Mud last week and Beno and I went through all the things that it could be yesterday.

Took it to Lou's. Drove great. 1/2 way home it started sputtering bad and only ran smooth with accelerator on the floor.

I'm gonna toss a new CityRacer carb on it. My current one has about 9 years on it so I guess it's time.

For some reason I thought it already had a new carb.

Probably didn't help that the intermediate owner only put ten miles on it in a few years.

Yea the city racer Fuji Japanese carb is a good choice , only 1 vacuum hose , and basicly what the rest of the world has. I've tried troll hole and it's just a better China carb. Mine had "stuff" in it and I couldn't get trollhole to answer any communication .

We keep the Fuji Japan carb on the shelf BTW. ;)
