If one is good, two is better, right? Actually, two will become one. This one I couldn't pass on, the shell and frame have no rust, and the interior is very good too. The '85 will contribute the OME suspension and a few other bits. Then a Vortec will be installed in the '84, and the stock suspension, 2F and 4 speed drivetrain will go into the '85. After that, the '85 will be FOR SALE.

I had a '74 FJ55, The Grey Goose that was the love of my life. I went everywhere and did everything in that rig. Finances and an ill-considered V8 Auto swap convinced me to sell it. When my wife died last winter I needed something to get out of bed for and this is it. Future plans include an Aussie locker, H55 tranny, maybe headers, winch bumper, either ARB or a custom design of aluminum, a 4+ or similar rear bumper, a roof rack, definitely the last, maybe all of the last three I'll build, either on-board air or a Powertank, custom mattress for the back and whatever else I can come up with. I'll keep the stock engine and open front end.

Names. My first rig was the Grey Goose, 'cause it was grey and that rhymed with goose. My current rig is the New Goose, 'cause it is. Other vehicle names, '02 Dodge Cummings, Roge the Dodge--named for Roger the Rabitt, 'cause my wife said 'it hops.' '83 W350 ranch truck, Hank the Cow Dodge--if you're from the country you've heard of the 'Hank' books. My wife's Liberty, Belle--use your imagination. Another useful way to name vehicles, do something stupid and get caught at it, e.g. Stump Jumper, Wire-nose, Snow Brakes. . .
Have fun!
