While I have owned 3 BJ42's and my brother 3 as well (original i am from Canada) I wanted something that was a little bigger that could hold, the Wife, 2 kids and a dog as well as all of our gear. So the hunt was on for a FJ60 that was more or less prebuilt. So after a long search and many junky ones as well as a nice one that the deal was not good (some of you may know about this one) I found one on Expidition Portal.

Here is my new to me FJ60.
I bought from a Expedition Portal member Gearnut in Colorado, flew there on a one way ticket and drove her home 1680 miles to Virginia. 100% perfect drive no issues.
1986 FJ60 "Jenny" <-- my name for her ....don't ask.

The good:
Silver ext/gray int <- what i prefered
SS Truxes 35x12.5R16 tires (90% tread remaining)
16" Rims, not sure who makes them looks to be Toyota
1994 Chevy suburban V8 (was rebuilt about 70-80K ago so has at least 100K left on it) TBI.
Running Mobile 1 since it was rebuilt and she burnt less than 1/8 of a quart (I think it is the hard pull in WV) so for me that is 100% acceptable.
Super clean install, looks factory
Fully rebuilt, factory injection and emissions controls
Aluminum rad.
Custom exhaust (very clean and tucked up)
AC working with all Stock Chevy parts mated to the Cruiser ac intake and switch.
New clutch and throw out bearing
Front shackle reversal (Man A Fre)
1 year on OME suspension medium front/heavy rear
u bolt flip
4 plus rear long shackles
long range fuel tank
Ranger overdrive mated to the original 4 speed (cruises at 70 MPH at 2300 RPM)
Original 4 speed shift solid and no play at all
Front stock axle 4:56:1
Rear axle is a full floater 4:56:1
New ARB locker in the rear
New ARB high output compressor
ARB Bull bumper (winch I just put in)
arb side bars
Kaymar rear bumper with stock tire holder swing out and a custom swing out (hold Highlift and 2 jerry cans)
Headlight upgrade (Hella H4)
Minimal rust (like 4 spots and will be easy to fix)
CD radio, CB, XM installed.
Rear Hella work light
Spector Seat covers
Tuffy center console
Light switches wired for roof rack, front lights and a few others I am sure I as am still tracing these.
Safari Snorkel going to a K&N filter on the stock Check AF housing
Original Jack and tools, and original owner’s manual (I always like to have these)
Original keys to.
Straight and true down the road with no vibration (other than the Super Swampers).

The Bad:
Paint is oxidized (I will be trying a cut polish, but I think a repaint is in the future)
Horn did not work, thanks to a great forum search this was fixed in 15 minutes. (Needed the washer trick)
1 small oil leak
Can smell raw fuel, so have to trace this.
Slight exhaust smell when first starting up (the tailpipe I think needs to be extended further) will look into this.
Aluminum wheel spacers. Placed in Bad as I am not a fan of these.
4 speed may need a rebuild (it has 260K on it)
1 taillight badly faded
little thinks like the tuffy cover is cracked, drivers windows is hard to wind down. Nothing major.

The Extras:
So the extras, Gearnut is a great guy and threw in a tone of extras.
4 speed trans (mileage: 80Kish) that I will rebuild
New starter
New alt
Extra passenger header (original was custom and he had an extra not sure why)
4 x H4 build extra
Tons of extra sensors
All bills since he has owned it.
Hoses, wires, tones of small parts. The Cruiser was stuff coming back from CO.
He even found some more items and the original workshop manuals after the fact, that are on the way.

Future:
Hannibal roof rack
IPF lights <-- ordered
Fix the faded taillights <-- Ordered
Fix a few small issues <-- most ordered
I have already 4 NATO fuel cans so no need for this.

I am sure I have missed something but all in all it is great.

Pictures (sorry nothing offroad as I have been home less than a week)

Good looking 60! Love the color with the black wheels. Good find

Score! Man that is bad#%@! The good totally outweighs the bad. Nice 60

Nice. I have the same fj cruiser steelies. What size tires are you running? I'm building my bumper and can't decide if the spare on the PS will be better than on the DS any feedback?

He mad this custom rear cargo cover, tool area. Basically he did not want the slide out drawer system (Price) and built his own system.
This works with heady containers you slide in. Make is clean and the top has hold downs to secure extra cargo etc.
It has the dog barrier (he has a dog) that i will keep in there to prevent the cargo from hitting the rear passengers.

All of it removes in about 15 minutes.
Very cool concept and i plan to make a few adjustments with a rollout tray for the rear cargo.

Ya that is a stock GM unit from the Suburban the engine came out of. Looks like the unit has been sealed to allow for proper flow from the Snorkel.
it looks like on the top where the hose attaches water would get in or air, but that is the picture. you can barely fit a piece of paper in there.

Just keeps getting better and better.

After removing the SOR seat covers i find this
