Nice rig man, did you swap in an entire 80 front axle I assume? I like the color scheme. Where are you located?

Dylan

Actually I narrowed the 80 housing and welded on 60 knuckles. It was a very easy swap.

I'm located in Southern Oregon.

Biodiesel Beasty Be-atch

1. Yr./model: 1981 HJ60 (Australian, right-hand drive)
2. Name: Brian
3. Vehicle Name: "Sheila" (because she's an Aussie, and this was always the joke name of my fictious girlfriend, my wife's is "Raul").
4. Mileage: 322640 kilometers (200,479 miles)
5. Mods: I've owned the truck for 6 weeks and so far I swapped out the std. split ring rims for "centerline style" aluminum ones, got the SOR diamondplate vinyl floor covering, "Biodiesel" bumpersticker, and onto my "oh s***! dash bar" I perch an extendable aluminum handle with my electronic gate card attached to the end so I can reach across my passenger seat, out the other window and "beep" the card reader so I can get into my work's parking garage... (You should see the funny reactions!!!)
6. Use: Daily driver/work vehicle

I run this brute/babe on B100 (100% biodiesel).

Hey stinky, it's a junkyard special. Paid $15 for it from a yard outside Reno, NV. I believe it was from a jeep cherokee. yes........ a jeep. :-(

Damm!!!      That really is a monster:zilla:
I now get it why you call it the beast!!

How does the 2f runs with those tires on and off road? I asume you're running 4.88s, are you locked?

nice rig bro

My Beast

Hey FJ60_cruiser, my 2F (original ) only has about 150K miles. Still pretty new in my book, my UZJ100 has close to 110K and that's a 2000 model. I've got quite a few more years left. The Beast behaves real well on the road, I haven't taken it off road with the 38s, with my old 35s, the Beast went where ever I wanted. Believe it or not, I still have stock gears (unlocked of course). Will get gears in the next month or so. I can easily hit 65 MPH (limit on Michelin XLs anyway) as long as I don't go uphills, I can maintain that speed. Gas mileage>? Not an issue..... hehehehehe:cheers:

Cool stock gears hehe , another quiestion, I asume you were also running stock gears when 35's so how did you felt the cruiser on and off-road?

I didn't have any problems with gearing. I could go as fast as 75MPH (estimated of course- a little bit faster than most traffic out here in Cali), crawling wise- it was a little different, but usable. Definitely could have used gears of course but it still went through 80% of the stuff I wanted to go through. later!

Ditto .

DId you keep your springs or you use links and coils . ?

what kind of gas mileage did u get?
I really haven't monitored gas usage but the last time I drove it from Cali to Reno (roughly 400 miles)- I was still able to get roughly twelve miles to the gallon. That's with 35s, three adult riders and full seabags. No too bad right?
