that was near aspen co last month. I got really stuck in the snow that day after feeling invincible.
My first thought was Independence Pass. Having grown up in Leadville, I know first hand about getting stuck in the snow. Self rescue?
This was the other side of Taylor lake. I was flying through all the snow with ease. We got to within about 500 ft of the top and then proceeded to get stuck over and over. First me in the 60, then the locked 40, and then the triple Locked 80. Backing down the top of that pass on ice was the scariest thing I’ve ever done.
The other side of the mountain would have been a breeze...
This is the exact opposite of fording rivers and climbing mountain passes.

We get stuck individually and unstuck as a group. 4WD'ers are so helpful....
