I might have to start attacking this list in order of pics received rather than chronologically. :grinpimp:
So IndianDoc, that means you might get your panels before xmas since you really jumped the gun on your pics. :D

Better me waiting on you, than vice a versa. Your time must be devoted to production grasshopper grasp the pebble, oh nevermind. Please ignore my big toe in the photo's. Again good to hear that you are well and that production is on going. Will be jumping up and down when the big box arrives. :bounce::bounce::bounce: Thanks again Doc:)

Almost Joey. :D Usually I need to see the actual vinyl panels, in your case you mention the Line-x, does that mean you will not be putting the wheel well trims back in place?
If you are not, (which, more than any other sound deadening in the truck, will GREATLY increase road noise) then I do not need to see the panels.

Yeah mine came destroyed with the truck. Stupid PO!!!

I will be doing a bunch of sound deadening to the truck before and after the Line-X but yes, there will be NO wheel well vinyl put back.

Birdie talks

A little birdie tells me I will be jumping for joy as a big package will be on the way, well before christmas. Thanks Kevin As always be safe and have a good one. If the orders ever let you get out of the garage/shop.:beer: Couple of PM's sent. :D

Yup, I am now officially attacking the names in order of pics received rather than in the chronological order of names on the list.
Waiting for images is making the whole thing take too long and some folks are very impatient. :grinpimp: IndianDoc sent his pics way back at the beginning of the summer, so he is at the top of the new list!
So, send me your pictures!

Sirenmosses is the only one waiting from the original list who has sent me their pics, but I could not afford to make his until I moved a few of these other sets I have ready, hence the list change. These things are REALLY expensive for me to make and I can not keep moving ahead unless they leave quickly.

The sub box is 7" from the floor of the truck. I'd like the door to be cut smaller than normal to accomidate the boxes. My speakers are mounted to the frame of the truck on MDF. I can cut holes in my panels when I get them to accomidate the speakers. I intend to attach the OEM speaker grills to the quarter panel hatches. I intend to remove my washer bag. I intend to mount my fire extenguisher somewhere else. I intend to cut only one of the two vertical supports since the one closer to the front is holding my speakers. I understand that my stereo is taking precedent over the function of the doors (IE the doors will be tiny) in my design and I'm ok with that.

LMK if the pics or my description isn't clear enough.

Wow Greg, I've got to draw the line somewhere, I can't put my pretty panels in a cargo area that looks THAT bad. :grinpimp:

My plan:
The boxes are fine, the door will be shorter than normal in both directions.
I don't attach speakers to the doors, so what I will do is cut a hole for your speakers in front of the door opening in a solid piece of metal (I need the diameter) all you will have to do is mark and drill for some mount bolts (simple, just drop the speaker in the hole that will be there for you, mark where the holes are, drill them out, and through bolt the speakers in, I will even do it for you if you want to ship me your speakers). This will get rid of both the supports and the MDF and give you the biggest door opening possible. I will laser in the mount holes for an OE speaker grill, but with yours I will mount it vertical to get the best use of space. And that way it will actually BE vertical, not like the nice 5* tilt they have now. :D
How does that sound?

Why are the boxes on your floor crooked? Is the 7" to the tall side or the short side?

I was thinking just that! It makes me feel good about how the back of my 60 looks with it's plywood floor.:hillbilly:

Send his panels to someone else!:flipoff2:

Haha, or my half finished storage system, haha.

What are the boxes for?

All great ideas. You should get yourself a job where you get paid to come up with those good ideas.

I'll get you some dems on my speakers later tonight. That tilt is OEM, btw!

The sub boxes are MDF also. They are all janked up because the MDF has gotten wet and expanded. I'd like to make them out of plastic at some point so I don't have that issue, I just haven't gotten around to it. 7" from the floor to the bottom edge of the door should give room for the boxes. I have 2 layers of carpet padding back there now so if it's tight I'll remove a layer.

Got it, 5 1/8", do you happen to still have the layout template? I could get the holes in there for you as well.
What is so special about the boxes? Since they are blocking the 1/4s why not put them IN the 1/4s? It would be easy enough to fasten a hollow "box" to the back of the new panel, nice and sturdy. It looks like they would be a tad bit smaller than what you have there, height would be the same, but it looks like your current boxes are deeper than the 1/4s. Is the size super particular?
I assume that there are just vents to the passenger compartment for this noise you speak of? I could cut the vents in any number of cool patterns. I would be partial to simple slots, but being as you are into the bling, I could write out TOYOTA for ya.

Nope, no template. I can drill the holes.

Subs operate best with a factory specified amount of air space behind them. The ones I have (JL Audio 8W3v2-D2) specify .375 square feet plus the .035 square feet for the driver displacement for an optimum internal volume of .41 square feet. The shape of the space doesn't matter as long as the speaker fits without touching the inside of the box (rattle).

The current boxes are sealed, rather than ported (vents). A sealed box makes for a tighter sound, less "boomy" which fits my music style better. The numbers above are for a sealed box. The boxes I have now provide just under the recomended air space (they fire down), and I'm happy with the sound.. I have dynamat on the floor.

If I were to put the subs in the side panels I would face them out with a grill over them. Perhaps another set of OEM grills? I'd have to look at them and see if they would provide enough space for the sub to move (they move a lot). If not, I could fab up a spacer to move the grill out some.

I have considered trying to use the space in the quarters but saw several design hurdles like getting the box sealed and keeping the whole side of the truck from rattleing. The panels may solve some of those design problems. I would think that putting the subs in the lower rear portion of the panel would work. You?

I'm liking this idea. What are your thoughts?

If it helps ya, I can pony up some or all of da moola now... I suspect most of those truely jonesning for storage would do the same.

No worries, you can thank Joey for paying to make your panels, you will pay to make the next, and so on. None of you are actually buying your own side panels when it comes down to it, you're just paying for the next set.
You are all supporting each other, isn't that sweet. :grinpimp:

Friggen Sweet. Thank you my friend.

Truck is all packed up. Leaving for Arkensas expedition in 1 hour.
