I just ordered FJ company 16" 6 lugs rims for my 1982 FJ43. These are 6" wide.

Recomended tire size is 255/85/16

But this size is not available with 6" rim width. Smallest is 6.5 - 7 ".
Any advice on this matter please.

You can run the 255/85r 16’s on a 6” wide wheel without issue as @JohnnyC stated. That said, with a stiff E rated sidewall, the 7” width rim is better for tread shape, thus the recommendation from the tire manufacturer. Just make sure you set the pressures correctly using a pyrometer to check tread temps and you will be fine. I have Yokohama Geolandar G003’s on both my rigs in the 255/85r 16 size. The 60 has the FJ Co wheels and my 75 has Braid Dakar Rally T wheels in 7” width and the wider wheel definitely feels better in the handling department. Trucks are both set up with the same leaf springs and Dobinson MRR shocks. That said, I also raced for 20 years and was a test driver/race engineer for Skip Barber racing school so I’m pretty sensitive to tire setups.
