IT'S ON A TRUCK!!!!:D

estimated to be here tomorrow, but last check is that its still in chicago. so it probably wont be here until saturday. but i dont care.:bounce::bounce2:

that is what i was thinking.
Adams is only 50 bucks more.
its in stock.
it looks way beefier than marlins.
both made of 1.75" DOM tubing
I am not a huge fan of the "MC" stamped in the back
and shipping would be less as the marlin one is coming all the way to charleston sc from cali.
Adam is in Wisconsin or something like that.

tonyota, why the wait?

I guess you found out.

gumby,
i know it took a long time, but i just checked marlin's site and his is still out of stock with no idea of when it will be back. so i would be in a worse boat if I went that way as I still would have no bumper.

As far as quality, it appears as though adams work is at least equivalent, if not better than marlin's bumper. plus its made in the USA, so I am good for that. We will see for sure when I get it in my hands, but I expect nothing but pure satisfaction.

Yeah it took some time but in the end I think I am getting a superior bumper made by someone in the USA. rather than some bumper that was possibly "designed" in the USA and out sourced for production. And I still cant even get one.

before everyone gets mad at me for saying that, i do not know for sure that marlins bumper is welded up out of the country, but I do know for a fact that at least some of his parts (including his 1200 lb clutch and pressure plate, which i currently run) are out sourced after the initial design is done in the US.

IF it is, im not saying its inferior because its outsourced, but our country is in bad shape right now and I would rather support a local, even if it took longer than it should in my opinion.

As far as Marlin goes I can speak for the bumpers. Not that I know the whole story but they have been having a problem with their builder who is midwest or back east. As of a week ago they still don't know when bumpers will be shipped to them. For bumpers they have a list going to notify people when they're in stock and also stated they will put it on their website too.

I agree. marlin makes good stuff. I was just tired of waiting.

Adam finally got me the bumper. I test fit it. And after a little figuring, I thought it would be best to remove the tailgate for install, as it is a REALLY tight fit.

After the tailgate came off, it went in like a breeze.
so i took it off and today it got dropped off at the powder coater's place. So it should be done by the end of the week.

I will post pics as soon as I get it on.

Later fellas,
Bryan

here it is, finally on the truck.
sorry for the crappy cell phone pics

got it powder coated semi gloss black

Man was it a pain the ass to get this thing on!!
Had to take off the tailgate to get it to go on without scratching up the side of my truck.

then the bolts are a pain in the ass to get threaded cause they are about six inches down in the frame and you cant fit your fat hand in there to start threading the nut.

First impressions:
1. I love the way it looks.
2. it seems solid.
3. you can put the tailgate down with the hitch and ball attached (no drop in hitch) and it doesnt hit the toyota plastic thingy, but its close. I would guess that with a trailer on it with the clasper thing it would hit the tailgate right in the "yo" when you folded it down. although, it would probably be fine if you had a 1 inch drop hitch. (mine is just straight out)
4. I did not like that there were NO BOLTS INCLUDED or that there was absolutely NO INSTRUCTIONS (especially since i had to take the tailgate off to get it on.)
5. additionally, I had to make two spacers to go in between the bumper mounts and the frame rail as the bumper width did not exactly match my frame width. it was about 7/16th skinnier. so two 7/32nd shims on each side made up the difference nicely and ensured that it was centered in the truck. probably could have got away without them but i did not want to take the risk of either cracking the powder coat pulling the bumper flange to the frame, or pulling the thinner frame wall over to the bumper.
now, everything is nice, snug, tight, and centered.

So, overall I would give it a 7 out of 10 (because of bolts, instructions, and that it was raw steel and I had to powder coat it for additional $$)
i may increase or decrease the rating after i tow something / slam into something lol.

it would, because the bumper mounts to the frame.

x2, plus you might not have to take the tailgate off to get it on either with the 2 inch extra room.
without the body lift, the ends of the corner protection stab the corner panels if you try to put it on from below and rock it up into place in the frame rails. removing the tailgate allows you to put it straight in from the back.
