 moving to ridgecrest (southern calif) looking for new trails for the 80.

any good advice is great.
thanks Mike:beer:

First off I am SORRY..... Just kidding, I was born and raised in the CREST and I still have my parents, sister, & nephews living their. Are you moving due to the Naval base relocation? If so that means you are probably moving from the East Coast.

Anyway onto the wheeling & trails: I only went on one 4x4 trip in an Isuzu Trooper and I believe it was on the Government land within the Navy base and out to some caves with Indian drawings on them. But in the last 4 years since I have had my Cruiser I have just done some light stuff with family.

First trip was at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mtns. that you see in almost all car commercials on TV. And the last 4 shots are from behind the community college. You access this trail by first visiting my best friend's dad Rick Lovett the brew master & owner of Indian Well Brewery and then the first dirt road North of the brewery will take you up into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mtns. Christmas in the Sierra's

Death Valley is just 1.5 hrs from your door and there is all kinds of things to do from the South end to the North end. Death Valley

Here is a PDF Map of Death Valley: http://www.markkuz.com/maps/Death-Valley_Map.pdf

And just this last Thanksgiving I took the family just 20 minutes out of town to Red Rock Canyon to explore the Burro Schmidt Tunnel. The first few pics in the album are again from behind the Community College and then the last photos in the album are from Red Rock Canyon.
Thanksgiving In Ridgecrest 2009

Stay in touch on the boards here and I will hit you up next time I go into town.

welcome

Pleasant Canyon loop in Death Valley, not a bad drive, and a great bang for your buck..:bounce:

did not forget been busy ad looking to go wheeling.

What color is your cruiser? I was just in RC yesterday on my way home from Mammoth and I saw a nice burgendy cruiser with a snorkle turning left from China Lake Blvd onto Ridgecrest Blvd. at the Denny's

ok time to kill this one - but before I go- heres my advice

Stay away from Trona

I spent the longest two months of my life working on a project in nearby Trona at the chemical plant . Ridgecrest was like living in Palm Springs compared to that place. Definetly a few inbred jeds in that little town. Maybe its from drinking the brine out of the lake. remember the hills have eyes - in trona

cruiser is gray, there are some stang people in rc and i did make it out to the pinicals in trona.

Well I guess it wasn't you but you may want to look out for him and maybe do some wheeling with a nice 80.

And if you ever need any help at the DMV my Sister Natalie works their and just tell her you have a Cruiser and you know me.
And I will hit you up next time I am in town for longer than a couple hours like I was this last trip.

Her Uncle worked at that plant in Trona for years...He just gave me a history lesson on that place over the holidays when we went out to see the Pinnacles and visit the fam... But yeah Trona is nothing more than a tweaker dump!!

South Park ,Middle Park Loop out of Balaret
Golar Wash over Mengal Pass, out of Balaret
Look Out Mountain
Saline Valley...the hot springs:p

Angie, "Miss Trona 1979" works at the Chevron station. I have never had a woman mentally undress me before ... creepy.

Irish Punk what color is your 55? I saw a green and white one last year and was drooling all over it. I was driving right past it but in my girls Subi.

I've been to Trona Pinnacles three weeks ago and the landscape was very impressive.

However, I didn't know about Trona town itself. I did google and found the unhappy story behind it. alas~

anything weirder than the slow dying off of a desert town?

LMAO! That is TOO funny... I wonder if Trona is where they film..."My Name is Earl."

My wifes uncle was taking care of some rental properties their a while back... he went to one of the houses to do some work and someone stole all the doors.. even the garage door! In one night! Yea I'd have to agree the Hill's Do Have Eyes...in Trona! I wouldn't want to get caught there at night.

Mine is blue/white on 37's. I've met the guy with the green one. I think we have the only two 55's in town.
