Got started tearing it apart just before 9am.

Here's some pics as I stripped the interior.

Put the boys to work cleaning seats while I pulled interior parts.

Used a mix of Woolite, Arm & Hammer Laundry Booster (powder), Pinesol, and warm water in a spray bottle to clean everything with - from carpet to leather to plastic trim pieces.

For carpet, I vacuumed up as much of the dirt, food, dog hair, etc, then used a bissel carpet machine to shampoo using the cocktail mix above. Followed that up with a pass via the bissel with clear hot water. Worked great!

All trim pieces and the extracted seat belts soaked in a strong mix of cleaning solution while we hand cleaned the large stuff.

I'm beat. Finished up at about 6pm. Marathon of a day. Popped a couple ibuprofen and sipping a cold beer, admiring a day well spent.

Wow good job on the interior. That looks like what happens when you are hard on your car and never clean it. Wouldn't have surprised me if you pulled the carpet and recovered the leather instead of trying to clean it.

Awesome look on the wheels. How do you expect that finish to hold up? How many cans of primer, paint, and clear did it require?

Thanks. There was nothing damaged in the interior - just filthy - so I was counting on it cleaning up decently. Nice to see that it came out as well as it did.

how much did you score this project truck for? does the AHC work as expected?

$1520 - Wrecked LX470
$59 - Uhaul trailer for the ride home
Free - Company truck & Gas Card to tow with
$50 - Used LX OEM Torsion Bars, shipped
$49 - Used LC Lower Control Arm, shipped
$347 - Used LC Knuckle with Spindle
$88 - Battery
$1040 - Frame Shop Fee with alignment
$1130 - (4) 295/65/18 DuraTracs
$430 - (4) 03 OEM Wheels
$32 - Mount and Balance
$1003 - Ironman Bumper
$55 - Cleaning Supplies and Paint for Wheels
$180 - Used LX Driver Side Mirror
$75 - Uhaul Trailer to get it home
$34 - One Hood Strut

Looks like I have about $6062 and about 25 hours of my time in it so far.

Friday I'm getting a 12k winch for another $330 and will probably add synthetic line. Need to get a new windshield, but that's going on my insurance with zero deductible.

It adds up fast. Still has body damage but everything seems to work well at the moment including the AHC.

Wow. I love seeing before and after photos of an interior cleanup like that. What a transformation. Crazy. My wife and I like to take out all the seats etc and remove the carpet completely and power wash it after a good soaking with Tide and Shout spray. Always comes out amazing. But you managed the same results with a shampoo job. Crazy. Someone here mentioned leather spray touch up paint. I've used a leather restore kit before on a Buick and it turned out amazing. Where do we get a kit for the Land Cruiser? Our seats need some love.

Thanks. I was really pleased with how it all turned out.

For the leather, Leatherique is probably the best bet. Works OK when blotted on but looks incredible when sprayed.

So when I first bought it, the steering wheel would go up/down but not in/out (telescope). Now it's working perfect. I haven't touched it either. Strange.

Got the ironman mounted this morning. Trimmed some of the "lip" on the trim piece below the headlights to get a better fit.

It's close but still needs a little adjusting. I'll pull it off later to install the winch anyway so I'm not too worried about it right now. I'll wire up the blinker, drl, and fogs later today.

Truly an awesome transformation. Nicely done.

Just out of curiosity you mentioned in your initial post that you were considering a wrap due to colour issues. Does it make more sense to do this before or after mounting the ironman etc? I suppose you have already made your choice given you have already installed it but as one considering similar mods thought I would ask.

Thanks.

I may wrap it later. It has some very minor body damage all down the driver side of the truck. No real irreparable creasing, but areas that are pushed in more or less. Depending on what it takes to fix it, I may just repair the dents and wrap the truck, but to be honest the White Pearl is growing on me.

I got a set of cheap auto body suction cup dent pullers from Harbor Freight and started on the front fender to try them out. Worked pretty good and it will probably do well enough to avoid major body work and repaint/wrap.

Andy you have done an amazing job especially on the interior. What was the mix you soaked the interior parts in?
