I Have a 1980 toyota pickup shortbed that i just fried the clutch on and would like to change up to a 5spd from a later model what years are recommended for a direct bolt on? thanks in advance

Any manual from a R-series engine will bolt up. Personally, I would look for a W56 tranny from behind an efi 22RE. I believe they were behind 1985-1995 trucks. Make sure to get the bellhousing for the W56.

Pappy is right about the w56. You will need to move your crossmember back a little bit and get your driveshafts re-tubed for the new length, but it is totally worth it. Lseries transmissions are not worth reinstalling.

PAPPY will the clutch set up be the same as well? in other words can i use the same clutch off of a 1980 with the 1984 transmission?
