Got the booster adjusted and the rear line installed all the way to the axle.
A student built a battery box for me. Looks pretty good, but it'll need a little adjusting to get the fender on.
All four spring plates are on.
Messed around with the tail lights a bit.
Ran a hard line for the vacuum modulator.
Cut out the plate covering the rust on the driver door and made a patch.

I was hoping to get the windshields to the glass cutter and myself to the pick and pull for some parts tomorrow, but it looks like I'll be working after having taken a personal day.

I'll do it on Presidents day.

Ordered a bunch of parts from SOR, JTO (I know, I know) and Amazon on Tuesday.

Yesterday I checked and Amazon had 2 days shipping, but 2-3 weeks before it shipped so I canceled that and ordered the Lokar from Summit for a couple of dollars more. They are only a couple of states away so I went with free ground shipping with UPS.

Summit arrived on the doorstep a couple of hours ago. That was about the time I got the email that JTO had generated a shipping label and would ship today.

ebay w/s hinges were in the mailbox too.

Went to the pick and pull today.

Found a alternator bracket to replace the one I can't find or threw away. Found the alternator in the shop and mounted it up.

Found a throttle cable that should make the S bend from the carb to the throttle pedal. Found a couple of different cable brackets too.

Found a MAF for my brothers 3000GT as well.

No HEI units. One mashed on might have been cobble-able. A 500 Caddy one and a Olds one might have been made to work too. The Olds one was a CCC system so it might not have worked anyway. I just ordered one brand new for less than $40 rather than spend too much time screwing around.

New idler and tensioner will be here in the morning with an A/C eliminator pulley.

Not a long day today. Just a few hours.

The passenger door had a piece of sheet metal brazed over rust holes in the door. I cut those out. Made a patch. Welded that in. Filled and hit it with sealer and high build. Got filler on the w/s patch and the corner of the other door and shot them with high build too.

Installed the a/ eliminator pulley, but it hit the upper hose. So I turned it upside down, trimmed off the part that then interfered with the thermostat housing and mounted it that way. Put the tensioner on and measured it for a belt. Ordered one up and got it right the first time.

Soldered the hole in the radiator. It holds coolant now. I'll pressure test it before I run it.

Mounted the shifter where I think I want it, but didn't make any permanent changes other than enlarging the hole in the trans tunnel. The shifter is about two inches from the FD knob when it's in park. A little twist of the rod will give it even more clearance.

So I got some hood hinges. I have some hood latches from a early FJ40 I'll use.

Should I paint them body color like they came on the 40s or paint them dashboard gray?

Body color from SORs site.

Body color.

You painted mirrors and turns body? If do body color is my vote.

Mirror will be gray. turns are gray.

blocked and re-primered the doors on both sides. The WS frame musta had something on it. It was a pain. I cleaned everything with prep-solve, but it kept popping. Shot a whole buch of little parts in primer too.

The windshield hinges got sandblasted, then primered with all three primers. They worked fine once all the paint was off of them.

Found one of the windshield latches and primered it. I can't find the other one,but I know I have it around someplace. I'll have to make the flat hooks.

Rough plumbed all the brakes and ran the wires for the tail lights.

It felt like I did more today.

Sounds like a lot.

I really wanted to get the doors in paint today. I suppose I could if I went back up there and worked for a few more hours, but I'm just not feeling it today.

It might not make tech day. Especially if SOR doesn't bother shipping my parts this month.

Meh, its not all bad. At least you won't cover your unfinished project in salt.

The good news is that the running lights were in the box from Spector, so the W/S gaskets are here, and the JTO box should be on the stoop when I get home.

The W/S guy called with a lower than expected estimate on the front glass for both trucks. $125 each. And they will be done right after work.

If I'da come in yesterday evening to get the frame in color I'd have glass in by tomorrow.

Slacker

One of those days where it looked like I did a lot, but really didn't.

We put the fenders and bib on to check for clearances. Had to trim the inner fender wells to clear the Ford shock towers. Got a little hitting on the steering box with the bottom of the bib. The big issue is the running light not having enough room for the bulb receptacle.

Fixed a slow leak in a rear tire. Hopefully, they will all stay full of air now.

Moved it off the hoist to make room for a paying job.

So now it sits on it's wheels on the floor with the front clip on. So it looks like I did a lot.

I blocked the w/s frame down too. It's ready for sealer and paint.

I didn't get anything sprayed because I blew out right after work to pick up the glass for both trucks and got the last of the parts that I ordered.

Blah.

Nothing sprayed again today. Everybody else had problems with their car that was more important.

I blocked down the doors and hood hinges and fiddled with the throttle cable.

The distributor came today. That was cool. Maybe that means we can get it really running tomorrow.

Got it back on the hoist with the bed set back on.

4 of 6 body mounts are in.

Carb has to come apart and be rebuilt. The kit will be here tomorrow.

Installed the new air filter anyway to make sure it cleared the new distributor that was installed today. Put new wires on it too. The air cleaner clears the distributor just barely, but will need a spacer to clear the carb linkage. It sits a little crooked right now.

Dropped the carriage bolts through the tank mount before I put the bed on.

Busy, busy day at the shop. Not a lot of time to work on it. Still no paint on the windshield frame.

It's often possible to clearance the bottom of the air cleaner to fit over the linkage or the fuel inlet fitting. A small ball peen and something to whack against can stretch a bubble over the interfering component.

Just another possibility.

Got it done and on. Of course it has to come back off because the crossover tube is leaking. The float bowls don't over flow now and the accelerator pump works, so that's something, I guess. I hate Holleys.

I got the firewall cut so the GM throttle cable fits right. modified, sandblasted and powdercoated the throttle cable bracket.

Started laying out the exhaust. Cut out two flanges that have the correct hole diameter and right bolt pattern to fit the 88 corvette manifolds.

Painted the doors and w/s frame and some smaller parts. Need to go in today to clean up some flaws and hit it with a second coat. The paint was drying in the gun and sprayed chunks in a couple of places. Too much hardener? Too much cup pressure? I sprayed with the HF gun with the 1.4 tip. A little extra reducer did help it spray better until it started to clog.
