What is the paint code of the yellow - is it 532?

yep, 532.

I rooted around in the 40 section and found a ppg code for it, and duncan auto matched it up in about 5 minutes. I wasn't sure they'd be able to work with the 532 number.

Not my favourite colour, but it's kinda cool. a change anyways, lots of tan ones around it seems.

It is one of the cooler colours IMO.

well, no photographical updates this morning, but I did have a good day yesterday.

took off the starter, discovered it had large loose bits lumping back and forth inside it, so swapped armatures with an hj starter I had, put it in and voom. It runs!

Not for very long mind, as there's no fuel tank quite yet...just the diesel in the lines.

Also managed to get most of the electrical stuff to come back to life, in the end after an hour or so of poking around with the tester, what was required was a squirt of mystery goo in the switches and turning them on and off 47 times...

So hopefully I'll be grabbing some parts in vic today, hump and maybe some seats and a tank .

the sketchy test drive is fast approaching....:hillbilly:

Ryan, did you see the 76 40 listed on usedvictoria?

saw the 78 bj40...couple 76's, but both have 4 digit prices, that's crazy s***...
there's a guy parting a 76 in vic, that's who I'm going to see. Sounds like he's reasonable about prices.

That's the one I meant.

hey ryan nigel whou you met at the meeting wed. night is going to be parting out a 76 fj40 over the next few weeks

i might need some parts .. whats his handle on here?

not sure about him, but the other 76 is jason.. jjameson on island4x.

Think I left one of the front seat brackets there yesterday when I grabbed a pile of stuff...

The cruiser Jayson Jamison is parting out is Nigel's. Same truck.

Nigel's driveway was gettin full so Jayson is doin the Cruiser "part out" for him..... as far as I know.

So, got some more stuff done. Made an engine stop cable with an old morse I had laying around...need to find something cool for a knob tho..:hillbilly:

pretty much have the dash stuff finished, got a hump in, and the ducts etc.

Sept_2010_031.jpg

This is pretty much how it looks now. Have to connect some fuel lines, bolt in one of the horrible seats I have ,spin a couple bolts into the body mounts, and I can drive it out of the shop to turn it around and clean up that pigsty I'm workin in...

It's definately time for a few wheelbarrows of parts out to the goatbarn to make some room...:hillbilly:

Once it's mobile, it'll spend some time out doors while I lay up some fenders, and give the rest of the front clip a clean up and spread some more mustard around... cuz damn does it look nasty with the green and yellow next to each other...(insert vomit icon here)

and then, after all that, it's bodywork time...:bang:

Good thing mel's going to mexico for a week....I'll be able to be out there till all hours with no complaints...:hillbilly:

So while you folks were out wheeling and having fun, I was in the garage again...

Laid up some new fenders yesterday, went for kinda thick ones...:hillbilly:

got them outof the molds and cleaned up, and today it was fitting the 70 series signals to the side aprons, making the little dents so they sit flush, and sanding/priming/painting the hood, aprons and fenders...

once I get the front clip on there it'll start looking half decent, which will be a nice change...

Got a bit of an early start today thanks to waking up at 330 with my dog Fiddich having some sort of seizure .

He lost all his motor skills, couldn't seem to control his legs, and could barely walk , stumbled outside and lay down in the wet grass panting like mad.

Didn't know what the hell to do, so I carried him back to the deck, wet him down with water to cool him off, and after about 5 minutes he was back to normal, if a little subdued.

It wasn't a grand mal type thing, no eyes rolling back in his head or s***ting himself,( had a dog do that once, way different) he was alert and looking at me the whole time, he just couldn't get his body to work right.

Freakin scary. thank christ mel wasn't home for it or she'd have been bawling her eyes out.

I'll be at the vet tomorrow to see what it could have been...either a toxin or a stroke are my only guesses, and I'm hoping for the former. He seems totally normal now.

So yeah. That was a whole pile of suck.

was no going to sleep again after that, so I was in the garage at the crack of stupid. Pics later when it's a little less funky out there, and I won't stir up dust...

and some pics...

here's one of the molds with gelcoat in it...

and the fender laid up and curing, the other one popped...

Sept_2010_039.jpg

not too many blemishes, just a couple where I didn't get all the wax out of it, but nothing major. just sanded and painted, they came out pretty well.

Sept_2010_043.jpg

and with a little moutard slathered on....:grinpimp:

Sept_2010_044.jpg

I stuck the hood on, just to keep the rain off the engine, but it's starting to look more like a cruiser and less like a derelict piece of s*** rusting in a field...:hillbilly:

Sept_2010_047.jpg

Paintjob isn't too bad, couple runs cuz I couldn't see what the hell I was doing...terrible light in the shop, and my glasses were fogged up, but I can live with it for now. Probably give the whole thing a squirt once it's assembled and all together, at least this get's paint in the awkward spots, and covers up the green. .

Next is to fix up that bib where it's rotted on the bottom.

Wow... scary stuff about the pooch. There is nothing worse than that panic while stuff is out of control and one can't do a thing about it. Just glad to here he is OK.

Oh yeah and can't wait to see the mustard...

Missed a fun day wheelin, Dan-O could have used your balast weight several times as he balanced "on the edge". :flipoff2:

Yeah, wanted to come, but the combo of 5am start and s***loads of work to do on the cruiser kinda won out. I'll drag it's low little stock ass out there once I get the bugs worked in..

( and find some decent tires....)

And yeah, was scary with Fidd, he's always been healthy as an ox, never an issue, and seems totally normal now, wrestling with the other dog behind me right now, but I'll still be at the vets first thing this morning anyways.

Honestly thought he was going to die right there on the deck at 3am, and first thing that came to mind was picking mel up from the airport with only one dog.

Funny, usually the mutts checkups with Jay the Vet involve more talk about cruisers than the dogs themselves. He has a 55 with a 2h waiting to go into it from a parts 60...maybe I can trade him a birfield for a checkup?

So, had another session on the 42 today, got the fenders mounted and the aprons attached.

I cut out the rust on the bottom of the front bib and welded in a bit of square tube, then being lazy I tacked it to the hinge at the height that I *think* is about right...

bib isn't fully mounted as I have a hole in the rad I need to deal with. friend of mine has a rebuilt 40 rad, so I may grab that and do the ghetto crossover tube thing, because I suspect the rad in the 42 is a bit too old and crusty to do much with.

turned it around and started on the patching of the tub sides. Using the rockers as practice, as I'll be covering them with 4" angle anyways.

ran out of mustard last weekend, so bib gets to stay grey for now. I'll give the whole thing a sqhirt once I figger out how I'm going to fix the rear sill...( kinda missing) it'll depend on whether I think I'll ever put ambulance doors back on it. they're kindof a rattly pain in the ass, so I'm leaning towards soft top only, but we'll see...

anyways, one pic of how it looks with it's front end mostly put together.
