I've got a shop here in Dallas, but fairly new to working on FJ40s. I've got a 1973 FJ40 with a fuel injected L31 5.7 GM motor. It's got a Vortec spider intake with a approx 3" round throttle body. Currently, it's got a conical air filter drawing directly over the back of the motor. Have you done any like this? I'm interested in purchasing one of your snorks. I'm not sure if the Edelbrock hat will work? Or would it need to go to a panel filter in a box and then back to round again? Thoughts?

Josh, I'd try and get a bit bigger snorkel and use an inline filter box like the kind you'd find at some of the offroad vendors. That engine will suck a lot of air. My little 3B diesel will make a decently loud howl at the top of the snorkel at WOT which is only 2800+/- RPM on the highway. Off road is no problem due to lower RPM. On long hwy trips I take off the pre-cleaner but I am plumbed through a stock air filter. What we really could use is a sealed valve to either use the snorkel or pull air in from under the hood. Then just engage the snorkel when its actually needed.

Kling-on. Good to know the powder coating is holding up. Let me know when the second 40 hits the driveway!

On my 3b with the safari scoop on it I get better power at hwy speed... like a ram air. I even had a increase in mpg from the pre cleaner ... I now only run the precleaner off-road. I also have a K/n filter in the stock air box.

I have one snorkel ready to ship but I think it is a left side mount. I have a dozen more that are partially built but would take me a couple of months to finish given my current work load.

I would like to get a right side mount for the 3B please.

Love your work. Are you still building the snorkels? Will be in Calgary mid May , possible to meet and pick a left (drivers) side. Thanks Rick Evasiuk

Yes, I have about 15 or so that need welding and powder. I've already told a couple of guys that I will weld them up in the next little while and get them into shippable shape.

Lots of action on these snorkels lately. I keep telling guys that I have to get some welded up and powder coated but I haven't gotten to it yet. I have been making sills and some other parts for two weeks straight but next week might see some "spare" time come free to get them done. Looks like there could be 4-5 guys looking to buy so I will move this up the priority list now that the other stuff is near done.

Kevin

I would be in for 1- US (pass side mount)
Just let me know
