I would convert it to 4 speed.....

I thought of that and still might. I just liked the idea of removing the top plate and being done. I realize the 4 speed is the way to go but pulling the tranny right now doesnt sound appealing. I guess I need to just do it.:bang:

CT.....how is the paint project going? Did you get the electrical drain figured out?

Well yes and no.
Voltage regulator that we replaced 3 months ago is not working. Got another one coming Monday. We will see.

Did get the 80 fix. Bad door module. WTF?

You buy a Toyota regulator?

im looking seriously at the hell creek 2.5 inch springs. my ride doesn't seem much improved with the old skyjacker "refresh" job.

I know some of you have their 4 in lift. What do yall think of it and what shocks/series are you running on yours? Could I run the hell creek with my 2 in lift shackles without any problems?

It is a bit hard to tell on these large emulsion shocks, but if they are frozen (from age) or if they are too soft (worn out) it can make a big difference in the ride.

Springs are springs for the most part. What SHUSH did should have reduced the friction considerably, one of the main things that cause a harsh ride on a 40. If the springs don't slide on each other and de-arch over bumps, then the ride will suffer. He cleaned them and removed the springs therefore reducing the friction.

That makes me thing the shocks may be frozen or just clapped out. If you can take them off and compress them easily or not at all, you need to replace.

How much air in the tires? Put them down around 25 and the ride will improve.

Have you ridden in a comparable vehicle? Maybe your standards are too high?

when I removed the shock from the ubolt plate I was able to compress them fairly easily with one hand to put them back on......?

I am loosing fillings on bumps so I don't have a standard in mind for my ride softness but know it can be improved based off the fact Jeff and Lash think my suspension is ridiculously harsh.

so do shocks first....Bilstein 5100s? will those fit and function right for a 4 inch lift?

below pic....at Nolen's suggestion I removed those 2 smallest, lower leafs to increase the give and slighly lower the CoG.

If you can compress your shocks with one hand easily, they are not doing much for you.

x2. Your shocks are toast.

I thought you were gonna clean up those springs and paint with slip plate. Doesn't look like that happened. Was there a change in plans?

I don't get this ride issue. My skyjackers ride almost too smooth. Ask Jrob. He drove my rig for a few hours at K2 last year and he was amazed at how it rode. I need to drive your 40 to see what you are talking about. All that you have done should have made that thing ride Ike a caddy. Also if the shocks are worn out then that should help the ride not be so harsh.
