There are youtube vids to rebuild carbs in the 40 forum. Lemmonhead??

I said eff it and paid the piper Jim C. (Be ready for downtime)
He's the "master", even places like ACC bow to Jim
Yeah, that's who Rob recommended and that's where I'm leaning. Just like you said, though, I can expect a lot of downtime, and that's what I was hoping to avoid. At the end of the day, are you pleased with your carb after his "magic?"

Lastly, how does one actually find this "Jim C.?" I've always heard Jim C., but I've never seen an advertisement, a description, etc........who is the gatekeeper I must first see before being granted access to this carburateur?

For another $120, send the dissy with it for a recurve. Just get it over with and be happy long term.

My 40 was running excellent until the HG started leaking.

Be patient. You're dealing with a 30-40 year old vehicle. Do it right the first time and post some damn pics

HA! OK, OK, I'll get some photos out. Doesn't look remotely what I intend for it to look like if i keep it a while (unless I just decide to abandon it from the start - I told myself I was "over" leaf-sprung vehicles, but this one was original / complete enough that it caught my attention)

I used Jim for dizzy and all the desmog stuff

You should keep that thing smogged. More valuable that way.
I have never heard that but I can tell you it makes it much easier to work on the engine with all that crap removed.

Trollhole carb would be quick and easy. Keep the original stuff for later if needed.

Yep, keeping it complete and original is definitely my intention. Being "all there" and "unmonkeyed with" was what got me interested in it in the first place. Unfortunately, the PO took some action on the quarters that will be expensive to rectify, so I've got to figure out whether I want to jump into that or just leave it that way.

Battery's dead, and I'm too lazy to push it out to take some better photos, but here are some initial ones. Nice "period correct" wheels / tires, huh? Non-radial, no less! HA!

79 or 80?

Actually, it's not Dune Beige. They changed from 416 DB to just 464 Beige in the later years. DB is actually a nicer color, but you'd not likely know the difference unless they were side by side.

Jason, it's an '82 (it might as well be an '83, as it's got an August 1982 build date)

Perfect! Problem solved....in fact, JRob was just telling me he wanted to do another build just like he did on his this past summer......:grinpimp:
Uhhhh... No he didn't!

Turbo Master wheels... love them.
