just some fyi, called them up to order some different parts (they're about half the price of the distributors, do yourself a favor and go direct with them @ 626.358.0562) and yes, they have discontinued the 4" clamps (he referred to them as the "pony clamps") but said he's had so much interest in them lately that they will more then likely start producing them again in the near future. price will be 35-40 bucks for 4 he estimated.

did i mention they're very nice and have cheap shipping there?

anyways, figured i'd share the info i got

It's been a while but I finally remembered to take pics of the 4" Quick-n-Easy mounts I used on the rack. As you can see there isn't a lot of space between the rood and the rack but even if I stand on it it's still okay. I did oversize the mount bolts from 3/8" to 1/2" but it was NOT for strength, it was to use up the space that Bill built into the slots on the rack. The 3/8" Grade 5 bolts were more than enough to take whatever load was placed on the rack. I also ditched the plastic gutter trim as it looks dumb and the mounts fit better now.

As Weaver mentioned buy direct and save $$. I'd be willing to bet that they don't have the same mystery shipping fees as SOR does.

oy, jealous those make me.

i'm using the 6 inchers right now, which actually are more in the 7 3/4" category, and they work for the time being. i have a 3.5"-4" gap from roof to rack so it's a bit much but, for the price i payed on the clamps, they function just fine. since they were used and a bit haggard, i stripped all 8 down and painted them up black, redipped the ends in plastidip. wasn't quite enough so i bought some larger black vacuum tube and made a cut along the length of the tubes and cut 8 to lenght to slip over the ends of my clamps. made for a real soft buffer pad between the clamps and my gutter rails turned out pretty slick. i'll have to shoot some pics one of these days i'm pretty happy with the overall results.

here's a few pics of the large ones. i have way to much of a gap but, like said they function just fine. i'll pick up some of the 4inchers when i weld some sides on to this rack the next time around.

Very nice. After seeing your nice black mounts, I think the next time my rack is off they will be given a nice new paint job.
