Looking really good, something for me to shoot for. How much firewall clearance did you end up with, and how long is the front driveshaft. Have you had any issues with oil pan clearance?

Firewall clearance is at least 5" between the distr and metal
I was working today around the passenger head which sits farther back than the drivers and I had room to get my hand in between it and the firewall.

Front shaft is 33"
Oil pan clearance is more than the 2F had........ :D :D :D

Looking sweet, I haven't taken many pics of my swap, but since guys are looking here for guidance, I am gonna use THIS BELT/ACCESORRY setup on mine.

Also ordered up the Scirocco style 2 row radiator with fan (bling) from Summit Last nite.

No worries, mate. I'll lead 'em to the dark side of GM engines, and you can lead 'em on their roof,
belly up,
wheels in the air
and all that stuff..... :D :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Hey Butch (or anybody) what are the options for the exhaust connectors from the manifolds? I am going to use the stock 01 manifolds and just can't find a trustworth exhaust guy to build it up from there. Can I buy the down pipes and fab up an exhaust?

Mike we are fabbing our exhaust now, as for buying "down pipes"
not that I am aware of, I could make ya 2 pipes with a flare, and a bend at any degree you want, I can bend 6" from the flare, or my machine smashs the flare.
All GM's route the exhaust to the passenger side, which won't work for us.

If i could pick up 2 short pieces with the correct flare for the donut, and the clamps pieces here locally I can fit something together.

Exhaust done, SOB sure sounds sweet, hard to tell it's not a V8. 40 series FLowmaster......

Mike I can fab up what ya need, I just need some specs on what you have for me to hook onto.......of course any muffler shop with a bender can do it....
Pix from today
I got some of the harness inside loom and have everything working as it is supposed to .........
Engine is running in the 2nd pic but you can't tell, so I shot the scanner to prove it... :D ........notice how nice the fan fits the shroud......

FJ40MAYO,

Thanks for the invite. Yes, I intend to bring it up and let everyone take a gander at Butch and Josh's work. I'm stoked, can't wait, man!!

You know when I was in school out in Lubbock, I used to be able to get a 12 pack of Miller Light bottles in the glove box of my old FJ40 back then. Now I think Butch has put the new brain for the engine in there. I guess I'll have to see how many will fit between the jump seats in the back.

OK, It's an ECM, (Electronic Control Module), and yes, it takes 1.5" on the floor of the glove box.......so Ya' need to keep the beer somewhere else, it does not like water.........like an ice chest perhaps?
