I am curious to see if anyone has swapped a 3UZFE into and LX470 before. My engine is running very nicely @ 530K km but I do have an opportunity to pick up a 230k km 3UZ for almost pocket change (out of Lexus sedan) as a back up in case bad things happen. In the state of millionaires who dig holes in the ground (Western Australia) a rebuild on a 2UZFE will run $12-15K. Is this a bad engine choice for and LX and should I keep my wallet and hands in my pocket? I know things are a lot cheaper in the USA but we just get shafted on everything in Australia unless it was a Holden Commodore or Ford Falcon which were like flees on a dog

One of the (IMO) good uses for things like Google Gemini.
Start research there AND ask here. (If you haven't already)

Why swap out the legendary 4.7L. Perhaps the best engine every build. Known as the, million mile engine.

I’m a diesel guy so to each his own but the wiring for that seems like a nightmare. I’ll probably run the 2uz until it dies. But if the transmission goes south I’ve been contemplating a manual transmission swap. And then a 1hd-fte if the mighty 2uz ever dies!

This is why I ask....you guys are fonts of knowledge. The engine is now sold and your points are solid stick with 2UZFE so I best look for another 2UZ for a back up plan....or have faith in the old girl doing another 500k km but at 61 I doubt I will be doing that many kms

The 3uz is also an awesome engine but the 2uz has lower end torque and like someone else mentioned a cast iron block.
