I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this but would love some reassurance.

There is a great deal on a used stage 5 icon lift for a 3rd Gen taco.

This would fit my 2005 gx (no KDSS) right??

I'd call around. the quick research I did, didn't show any specific WILL NOT WORK WITH KDSS warnings... but I'd call Metal Tech or Apache Off Road as they both offer the stage 5 on their sites and would know

Let me clarify - my truck doesn’t have kdss.

question is will the 3rd Gen icon taco lift bolt up to my gx?

Oh gotch ya. Didn't see that it was a taco lift at first... I don't think so. usually, when things fit multiple platforms they say so (like Runner/Gx)
 
Front will work. Rear shocks will need to have new lower bushings pressed in.
