My goal is to fit as much as I can behind this door, so I have as much with me if I need it as possible. The upper compartment I am going to dedicate to spare parts.

Goals:
Door closes
Kit secured by strap
No rattles

I've come up with this double stacked tray:

Which contains the following (color mismatch because I basically populated this with leftover tools I had sitting arround, rather than buying anything new for this):

Currently printing is negatives for both layers in 85A TPU ( soft rubber), which will prevent rattles and lock the unit into one piece when not in use (that's what that circle is for).

Recognizing that not everything is useful here to a 100 series (but that I may need it to work on other things), I've gotten in here....

Changes coming for the final print:
ASA instead of PLA (so it won't warp in heat/sunlight)
I have labeling on each tool-- make that a different color than the case, so it can be read
TPU/rubber parts to secure everything and prevent any rattles

It is NOT going to work for anyone if they're don't resize it for their specific tools. I made it EXTREMELY tight tolerance, to prevent any rattles. Literally sized it to my specific sockets, which aren't even a set of the same brand-- just things I had laying around, not otherwise in use.

... it's also some of my worst CAD work ever. Was just stacking features and cuts, with no real regard for future serviceability.

Progress continues. Top anti vibration cap printed, which doubles as a latching system.

This is the first large TPU (rubber) part I've printed. Weird feeling stuff to come off a printer!

One more part to go-- a TPU part for between the two plastic parts, to keep lower level parts from rattling and retain them over huge bumps.

Bottom TPU part printed, and fits great. Zero rattles when I shake it, and there should be zero ability for parts to fall out.

Design wise, this is done! Going to reprint the plastic parts in multicolor (so the labels can be read) ASA (doesn't warp in the heat of a car cabin or have issue with UV). But, I'm pretty pleased with the result!

Please let me know if the above pictures aren't visible. Mud seems to reformat images to "webp", which seems like some people can't view...

I'm adding a pack and go of the original files to the first post.

Man… this is a fantastic idea. Also, beautiful E39…

That's amazing! Kind of wish I still had that pocket there, but I used the compartment for electrical.

This is sick. Be cool if the vicegrip space would be sized for a 7" or 10" Knipex plier wrench (whicever would fit that width wise).

I have a tool roll, with pretty much all the same tools, just tucked in a corner. I dont really use those storage compartments well, so I should try this!
