3B II or 3B

Something else obvious about the 3BII I didnt see mentioned here is the lack of a push rod cover. These engines have roller lifters and there is a series of 16 bolts along the side of the block where the cover would be. I had a 15B-FT and the exterior of the block looked identical to the 3BII I just rebuilt.

also, i wanted to point out, the 3BII has a rotary pump so a boost comp can be added. nice if you want to turbo a 3B.
 
when i brought in my first BJ61 way back, i thought it felt smoother, it was quieter, more powerful and better on fuel than any 3B i had owned before .. or since. that pump makes a big difference to that little engine.
still no powerhouse though.
