Well I glad you are expecting to break stuff. But to say it does not rub when you only have had it on the street is really not that great. The way I read the post earlier and with the pictures you had a link to it made it read like the pictures where you with the new tires. No offence taken, just do not want people to be miss led that to run 37's with Jsprings can be done. As for the 36 swampers the tread measures 10.4 from the widest lug to the widest lug. The carcuss witdth is 12.7 inches (enen interco does not report true measurement). So our treads are similar widths. Yes the rims I have my swampers on right now I borowwed from christo to see if I could use them (10-16 with 2 inch back space) Not the proper size in my opinion. Not enough side wall buldge. I will be trying some stock rims and seeing how things go, but may get some made for me in the 8-16 with 3 inch BS, I think that would be just right. STill think I may have to get the taller springs to clear. Put in bump stop to limit up travel at times.
Are you planing on being at Moab? Maybe we can cleanerence some stuff for you there. later robbie

Wheels look good.

I agree with having to do some trimming. Having my 305/70's fully stuffed, there's just not much more room in there.

Don't forget to put on the 6th lug nut.

Ok, i re-read my rubbing post...it was late last nite when I tested the rub...since I didn't hear any I assumed no rubbing, but today I went out and LOOKED and there is ever so slight rub at full lock (I have edited my above post to reflect that). But you are totally right, I will most likely have some rubbing when wheeling...but alas, I am not complete in my mods...once I get some trimming done, adjust the rear panhard to center the axle, add a bit of lift, blah blah blah I should be ready. The link I sent are of when I went to CO with trxus tires...I didn't intend them to mean I had the Krawlers on at the time :D sorry if it came off that way

No moab for me this year, using my week of vacay for the run through silverton area.

once I get my spacers on (1.25") my total BS should be 3.5'" which I think will work great in combo with 7.5" rims.

also , agreed on bumpstops. I think my 2" in rear and 1" on front *should* suffice.

...your comments are always appreciated...that's what makes lists so great!

I'm still betting first real day on the rocks, you will have some major issues.

I'm running 36" bias ply TSL swampers on J's with 20mm worth of packing all 4. I have lowered bumpstops and done some other stuff. No, they do not rub, but I will tell you that to 'properly' run them, there would be more lift.

Maybe we need to start a pool to see who guesses your first issue. It could be a race between you and Curran.

I'll take you up on that bet Junky-Poo.
The tires are only on order. I don't have them yet and given the national backlog for the things, I likely won't have them for a long time.
I'll likely cancel the order on the 37s and just go with a set of 315 MTRs or 35" TrXus. I figure that I'll get enough height under the cats and rear lower control arm mounts with the new springs. Plus it’ll save $600 on new wheels. It was nice to see you get all worked up over though. :flipoff2:
Nevertheless, I’m going through with the suspension work and the regearing.

Hope you didn't take my posts the wrong way. It's just that I consider you a friend and don't want to see you drop a lot of cash on something that could cause you more headaches or spend money on something that you would really regret. Plus I excel at being a pita, so it just comes naturally. :D

I plan on trimming them fenders/plastic overhangs/etc before I get out...that way I don't have a huge tear :)

Well now that I'm done hosting those damn pictures of yours, I can actually look at them. I must say it looks REALLY nice...course so did my FJ40 on jack stands with no springs on it! :flipoff2:

Actually with any luck you will break things right and left, so when we're wheeling, you'll be breaking and me won't.. :D I can simply drive around your "Busted Ass Vehicle"! :flipoff2:

I'm sure it'll rub, you'll find things wrong but who the hell cares...if you go into it with a good attitude, just trying new things, then you'll never be disappointed.

I would applaud you for getting 37's but I know how you got them and why, and that you were a lucky SOB...so :flipoff2: :D

All in all it'll be fun to see, looks sweet I think...if it works well me thinks I'll go 37's...but you be the testy, I mean guinni pig..hahah.. :D

(I'll be sending you a invoice for this post btw)

Awesome setup Kumar! What r&p gearing you're gonna get? 5.13 or 4.88 and why?

On mine, I got 5.13 ratio, even though I got the supercharger already :)

thanks Drexx!!!

Going with 4.88 as that will bring my gearing back to stock. Also allows me to run 35" tires (for winter or if I see need to go back to that size / possibly towing tire (good w/ the 4.88/35" gearing)). Also, I have plans to get a supercharger and/or turbo in the future and 4.88 w/ 37" would be a nice combo. Still great for highway driving and still powerful enough for off road.

It's funny that four years ago I was told that 315s were going to be a big issue and 285s were all you should do. Now 315s are considered small and 36" and now 37" tires is where people are going. Back then and now I still think 315s are pushing it slightly and am willing to deal with it but 37"s they got to be a pain in the ass until you work things out.

Hope you don't break too much stuff.

I still would have sold them and put the money to other use. You may be the first guy I've seen to wheel with 37's before getting a winch for recovery.
[/quote] i dont have a winch :flipoff2:

Furthermore. after going to higher springs and larger tires i will definetly not be going taller (lift wise) but will be trimming alot as dont want to lower limit the suspension to much. may even be going back to J's and Trimming tons..... All the same its been cool trying new things and playing with and tweeking all of it.......

UPDATE---LONG OVERDUE

Just to update this thread on the rub issues....

Some of you have already seen my rig in Colorado wheel in various situations. I DID have some rubbing offroad (my no rubbing comment was only on the street, sorry for any confusion, I never had wheeled the truck yet). After wheeling the truck, I did some timming on the rear of the front fender well, did some trimming on the bottom side of the plastic fenders, did some trimming of the rear fenderlip (more like banging). I still have rub on the rear tires, but it's very benign, only frame and wheel well at full squate, but nothing to get scared about ripping stuff off. Most of my trimming pics are at kumar.cruizer.net in one of those sections :D. Some asked for stuffing pictures too, those are in various albums as well. Thanks! Kumar

Every time I see this truck I cry. It's so..... so...... what I want.

I'll trade you straight up for my 87 FJ60 with serious rust issues. Deal?
