Man!! Don't know what to say. The truck looks great no doubt but what about articulation up front and in the back? What kind of lift setup are you running? If you play your card carefully you might get away with NOT breaking stuff. However, I think with little more suspension twicking you can have better result.

Articulation is GOOOOD. Here are some pics:

The front has never rubbed after I did some trimming (barely noticeable). the rear still "talks" a bit, but nothing destructive. All Fender flares are still attached :D

Every time I see this truck I cry. It's so..... so...... what I want.

I'll trade you straight up for my 87 FJ60 with serious rust issues. Deal?

Looks good man. I would still like to see a front articulation+stuffed picture if possible

I think the second pic showed that, but here's another view of it.

Have you put on the 1.25" wheel spacers yet?

Nice to see this work - 80 wheel wells are absolutely huge, and you should be able to continue to refine the setup and make it work. People put 37's on Jeep Cherokees with 6" of lift, and they have absolutely tiny wheel wells. Years ago, when that market was about as mature as the 80 market is now, people thought you needed a 6" lift for 32" tires.

I think you'll be seeing 35's on the regular OME lifts as people figure out that it isn't that hard to space down shock travel with shock adapters, and that 4" of up travel is plenty on a 10" travel shock, especially if you free up that front end for full flex downward. Everything changes when you are willing to trim a bit and customize so you aren't bound by stock dimensions.

Nice looking 80 - I love those Tundra rims, but you need those spacers to make it look just right...and then it will be interesting to see if you need more trimming at your lift height.

wow, you guys resurected an old thread!!!

the spacers have been on since the day I had the tundra rims. Tundra rims won't clear the calipers without the spacers. I am just a hair larger than stock on my width. I didn't want to stick the tires out too much and add any undue stress on the outer knuckles, plus the added benefit of keeping an almost stock width is that the tires stuff better.

The only change I have now is the Krawlers are off and going to go on a project mini truck i'm slowly building. The lexus got 37" trxus tires (they are E rated). The trxus m/t tires are an awesome match for this truck. Second set I've owned (first set was 35"). I run centramatic wheel balancers as well as having the wheels initially balanced on a hunter gsp9700 wheel balancer, using truck weights where needed and a very competent technition. Anyone that has driven in my truck with the 37" trxus tires knows it runs smooth :)

Tundra Rims are 4.75" BS + 1.25" spacer =3.5" of backspacing? Is this in fact what you are running ? Do the tires still stuff inside the fender lip at full compresion in the rear?

On the rear I had to trim the fender roll a bit, the outer lip...I just banged it inwards with a hammer. Plus drop blocks for the bump stops.

On the front I had to locate the rear portion of the inner fender rewards. there are pics of this on on my site. Here is the "after" pic. Where you see the slider end is where the fineder USED to go. As you can see, I was able t bend it backwards quite a bit. There is post somehwere here with more details. OH, and the sliders no longer stick out into the wheel well, I cut them short to mach.
