Wow. That is a nice setup. Would it not fit where the old stick is?
 
No plans for running it in any of the classes at this point. We didn't design the setup with any particular class in consideration. It will be a part time daily driver for me, the vehicle we take on any cross country trips, and general offroad toy. Only changes in the future might be correcting the rear suspension and going with a rear setup that allows for proper uptravel.

As far as competitions go...I'm currently in the process of helping Dave (main fabricator on the project) design his next chassis. His will be the second one made and likely an IFS version which he'll probably race in the 4400 BRT class. I've thought about having him make one for me in the 2013/2014 time frame and playing around in some of the races. I doubt I'd ever go offroad enough (lucky if I go once a month right now) to enjoy a buggy. For the amount of money I'd toss into it I could have an extremely nice sports car that I could enjoy any day of the week.

As far as the next build goes, I'll be getting the 951 reliable as a part time daily driver and then probably building something along these lines (co-workers project I've been helping out with).

Figure at this point I've torn into every vehicle I've owned and tossed out a good portion of the OEM parts. Why not start with a bare chassis and elimiate a lot of the limitations and select the right parts from the get go. Should save a lot of rework, money, and be a cheaper and better product in the end.
 
nice rig, keep a very close eye on the RCV axles when you start running it. The bolts like to back out.
 
Thanks. I'm not planning on running those bolts. I've got drilled socket cap screws which saftey wire will be run through so they don't back off. Ones in the photos are what came with the axles and just haven't got around to swapping them out.

Rear is coming along, just another bend or two. Should have some pictures of it Monday. The 3link creates some headaches with the the routing (i.e. not hitting the exhaust at full bump). Looks like the resenator I planned to run won't fit unless the it seriously dips down a bit below the frame rails and then raises back up quite quick. The race bullet muffler just fits by the gas tank, so hopefully it doesn't sound like too bad (remember all the cats have been removed).

The dynomax muffler isn't exactly known for its dampening, so I was really hoping to fit the resenator to mitigate any anoying frequencies.

We'll see how it is with just the race bullet and if it sounds like crap I'll have to find another muffler to toss in or a smaller resenator.

You can definitely tell its a straight through exhaust without any cats or resonators. Looking into fitting a resonator after the muffler or a second muffler behind the auxilary tank. Keep in mind there are no hangers on the exhaust now and it isn't orientated 100% correct on the rear, so it will be further fromt he auxilary tank than it is in those photos. Just chucked it on to get a feel for the sound and what modifications we might need to do.​

No, thats part of the beauty of the Atlas + crawlbox. It is the only 4 speed case I've seen so far that you don't have to modify your gas tank. I know dual lefty cases require you to heat up and push in the tank and so does an OEM case + crawlbox.

I've got a writeup on the various transfer case options that most FJC folks would be interested in. Originally I had posted it and a few other tech articles on the blue room, but pulled them off and I am in the process of transfering them over to an independent website for various reasons. The transfercase article is up and running, but I need to make modifications to the rest of the site to clean it up a bit before sharing with everyone.

Not sure what the exact forum rules are, but if acceptable, I'll post a link to the article section later this week.
 
I'll check with Jerry and get his take. There is a product/service listed on another portion of the same site that houses technical articles. If required and reasonably priced I can always joint as a vendor and if not I'll just PM you the link when I've got it cleaned it up.
 
Its no problem to have your build thread here or link to your build thread off-site. As Rick said, if you were trying to sell things, I'd ask you to move it to the for sale threads.

I saw your t-case thread and liked it, nothing wrong in anything I saw in that.

But, bring it on. Love the build and your effort to take the FJC to another level without doing a full SAC. I hope to get out west this summer and hope to see it on the trails somewhere...
 
Any chance you can post up a picture of the exhaust routing where it crosses from driver to passenger at the transmission tail housing? I need to rebuild my upper links and my belly pan. As part of redoing things I am going to lift the exhaust and attempt to make the belly flat. Pics would be appreciated. Looking good!
