No it doesn't bolt up. But I guess there could be adapters to do so. I have never looked into that. I also have an R151F that uses the 4cyl gear driven t-case. THere could be an adpater for that as well....or at least an older t-case from the 4 speed manual.

One question, not sure about the 60, but every motor pull I have seen (other than the two I have done), the outer edges of the front end are removed. That's more work than necessary, so I wonder what the advantage is?

I am not seeing any adapters to bolt up LC transfer case to a different tranny. Anoyone got any ideas?

So I decided to stick with the stock auto. Trying to deal with a non-offset tranfercase is something I didn't want to do on this project.

I have made a temporary adapter until I get an adapter flange made. I will also use the UZ flex plate and the stock flexplate. I will use an aluminum spacer in between the two flex plates. I will take my plans to the machine shop early next week, and hopefully they will get it done soon. They are known for taking awhile, but they do good work at one of the cheapest prices around.

The motor/trans combo will sit forward an extra 4 inches still, not a big deal. $200 in driveshaft mods will fix that. Shifter for the t-case will just be bent back a little bit. I might even weld on plate further back on the transmission to keep it in stock location inside the vehicle.

I will use Lexus engine mounts. I am pretty sure they will work better than the Toyota mounts...as long as the bolt holes are the same on the iron 2uz block.

So far I am ahead of schedule on this project. Who knows, at this rate, it could be drivable within the next 30 days.

so, the V8 mates to the auto tranny bell housing w/o any issues? I assume the reason for doing the two flex plate thing is so that the torque converter bolts up easily?

Yup, pretty easy. THere could possibly be some wiring in the way. on the 1UZ the EGR piping would be in the way of the adapter, which of course could be re-routed. I don't have the 2UZ yet, so I will have tow wait and see.

Two flex plates because yes you still need to bolt the torque converter to something and it already has all the right holes.

I am sure something like this would sell for around $350-$400 for a manufactured kit...possibly less.

I, too, am very interested in this mod. I recently had the 1fz in my '95 rebuilt due to two bad rod bearings......I absolutely HATED to do it, because the 1fz is so underpowered. These vehicles SCREAM for a V8; however, I couldn't find a good, concise write up on how to swap (and what to swap) into an 80. I couldn't even find a good write up on an SBC swap......well, not one that didn't leave a lot to the imagination.

Please provide as much detail as you can, and if your test mule works out well (and if you're so inclined), you will probably have a pretty good market if you decide to offer a 2UZ swap "kit"......anyone else on board for something like that?

Correction - an 80 with a V8 would be the perfect on-road vehicle.......It's already a great off roader with the I-6

I'm using a uzj100 transmission, the total drivetrain move for me was 6.5 inches. Currently the transfercase is hitting the floor and I need a slight body lift and floor modification to clear it. My throttle body also hits the hood where the PCV hose enters.

The 100 transfer case and the 80 transfer case are both passenger drop front and rear if that is what your asking. I purchased a 100 a340f and bolted my stock 80 t-case to it. They are the same t-case with some small differences. You can save some money using your transfer case.

Do you mean t-case? The Tundra with the 4.7 has a centered rear output on the t-case but the 100 doesn't. When my father in law had his 100 up over the holidays I crawled under and did some rough measurements (which I promptly lost). Definitely offset to the passenger side though. Not as much as my FJ62 but it should work fine. Unfortunately I couldn't talk him leaving his drivetrain with me however so I'll have to look elsewhere if I want to swap one into my 62

Motor came today. I was hoping it would come with the accesories, but alas it did not.

Motor has 22,000 miles on it.

I have already got the crossmember and the engine mounts completed with my mockup motor. This will go in tonight to make sure everything is still with in spec before I completely weld everything together.
