We used to use a custom made version of that back when I was a kid for the suburban shuttle for our neighborhood kids. Worked well - biggest downside is that your skis get covered in road grime and I don't think it's great for the bindings. Would be cool to have the same idea with a cover made for it. Probably the easiest solution.

FWIW - the LC300 has a variety of middle row designs. Some have the pass through and some don't.

Is it possible that the pre-production ones are different from the final version?

They're so close they look almost interchangeable.

One other interesting (at least to me) observation is that most prior generations of LC and Prado had both setups depending on market and trim. I had just assume the pass through was standard on LC at least because it's a standard seat on the 4Runner. Apparently not - LC100, 200, 120 and 150 versions all came without a passthrough on some trims. Lexus and Toyota's other SUVs in the USA still have it in most models. RX is standard. TX seems to be trim dependent. LX is standard. ES still has a pass through, but IS doesn't.

As crazy as it sound getting captain chair option for utility purposes makes sense!
