Aah...there's the factor that I forgot about in my myopic view of engine performance. I guess that's why the 12H-T was recommended as a swap. Rob did a 1HD-T swap into a 60, and his writeup thread has some discussion on tranny adaptations...https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=81067&highlight=1HD-T+transmission.

12H-T bolt right up to H55F easy but the 1HD-T bolt right up to an H150 or H151

so diferent imput shafts ..
