Hate the game not the playa, playa!:flipoff2:

Yea, but going through the options sequentially is getting expensive :censor:

Find me an enjoyable hobby that is cheap and I will find you someone living by a river called ""denial"".

I'm aiming for the new carb/desmog effort next weekend & have a three-stall garage. Perhaps we should organize a group-carb transplant....oh wait, sounds like a great way to have my garage filled with old smelly trucks that won't run and divorce papers.

Lets just compare notes...

I'm desmoged already, so hopefully it will only be a carb exchange and a little tunning, the carb I have now is stock and I rebuilt it, it runs ok, but you can tell it needs high alt jets and extra smog stuff taken care of...hopefully the new carb will take care of this ;)

I may end up there as well - Mark @ Mark's Offroad found some damage including a cracked housing on mine :crybaby: He's going to give me options tomorrow or Tuesday.

Eric, here's a close up of the broken section; I have since drilled the housing further up to see if I can get a longer screw to work. Should know tomorrow.

P.S. Quite the long shot that I found this thread!;)

Ouch - that's not good at all

Should be able to fill the hole with "super alloy #5", redrill the hole, tap it, and be done with it. Had a guy in Woodland Park tig weld my intake manifold and it also worked pretty well.

Trollhole install

Curious about how things go for you Friday when you put the carb in--can you throw up a quick post to let me know if you ran into any problems? I'd be happy to profit from your efforts! :bang:

No problem, I will try to document the event, put some pics together...that is...if my garage isnt too cold..I don't have a heated garage unlike others...

I've got one of those propane heaters that puts out pretty good if you want to borrow it.

Add that heated garage to your wishlist..............but put fuel injection on the list before that! :D:D:D:D hahahaha. ticka-ticka-ticka-ticka......thousand times per minute baby!!!

Ok mister wizard, you find the throttle body for the 2F and I will find the engine it goes on... 1FZ-FE turbo.

Then while we are at it, we can match it up to a F55E.

Then I will praise the fuel injection Gods...

..."ticka-ticka-ticka-ticka......thousand times per minute baby"...until it goes TU...then its just a hunk a metal, I drove my 40 with one butterfly shut and still go it home...so Tcha ching!:grinpimp:

Thanks Eric,
I don't need a heater, I can bring over Luke and he can spew all his hot air about his fuel injection...that will get the garage nice and toasty..:D;p

Trollhole carb is here--pretty! He wasn't kidding--one wire, one vac hose to the dizzy--just need to order the dummy pully to replace the smog pump. Can't wait to get some time to wrench on it!

Got mine in today, should be an easy setup. Checked for the regular alt jets, they are there, I won't be able to get to it until Friday, still won't be able to start her up until I get the oil pan off, re-tap the bolts that got sheered off and replace the gasket...

I also have a leak from the gasket of the rear output of the diferential...don't know what it's called...any clues?

thanks.

Can't help you there--do you mean the rear of the transfer case?

I'm not sure where to look for the other jets--do you have to get into the bowl to find them? I might just keep them in a zip-lock in the glove box to make changing easier...

It sounds like you are talking about the pinion seal?

If it leaks from the rear diff at the snout where the u-joint is that would be a pinion seal. If it is leaking from the rear output of the transfer case, that would be a transfer case rear output seal. If it is leaking from the round cover on the back of the axle that is a diff cover gasket, but I think most people just wipe those down with brake cleaner and put RTV silicone on it. Keep in mind RTV stand for "room temperature vulcanizing" so give it some time to seal in the cold weather.

Be careful replacing the pinion seal, you want to put almost the same amount of torque on the nut as what you took off, or you will crush the sleeve and tighten the pre-load on the bearings too much.

It's this....thanks...Luke...now I know what to order...that should take care of the leaks...:grinpimp:
