Maybe run a converter with higher amp output or install a second one!

Which converter?

Any recommendations on specific 24V to 12V converters?

I plan on running a standard AM/FM radio and a VHF. Is 15 AMP sufficient, or should I go bigger?

Cheers,

Austin

There are a bunch of opinions but I prefer to use a smallish converter to charge a small third deep cycle battery for accessories.

Any 24->12V converter with 20 AMPs plus will do for your stereo unless you run the preamp and lots/bigger speakers.

I use a 20-30 amp battery equalizer from Solar Converter in Ontario and it measures the 2 batteries multiple times a second and gives the highest to the 12V out put for my 12V apps. This keeps both batteries closer to 12V and lets the alternator do its job.

I also have a 24->12V converter for sale from a previous truck if anyone is interested. See classifieds.
