I have an 86' 4Runner, some time ago I did a throttle body swap from the old angled down throttle body to the late straight throttle body. Part of the swap is to change out the TPS operating paw as the later sensors are different, I did so. Now on to my problem, I'm now gong back to the late model TPS, mainly due to the fact that the connector is falling apart. I sourced a new connector and have a good late model TPS, but.....I can't find the original Late model TPS Paw. I'm hoping someone in this forum can help me out, while I do have another car the 4Runner is my DD. I doubt seriously I can get this part form Toyota and I'd hate like hell to have to find another throttle body.
Oh and my big issue is I've already soldered the new connector to the engine harness, I completely forgot about the difference in TPS sensors.
Please PM me if you can help me out

Thanks
Corey

Perfect excuse to hit the junk yard. Pull one off any Toyota with the orientation you're looking for.

Well LC Engineering come through, 10 bucks shipped. The closest junkyard is over an hour from me, not to mention I just did not have the time to rummage through a pick and pull and risk not finding what I need.

It's one of those parts I never thought I'd need so I didn't think of keeping it in a safe place. With the older 22RE Engine sensor connectors loosing the fight with time I'm really thinking very hard at a 3rz conversion. The 22RE is a great work horse but the old school engine management, tough good in 86', SUCKS! The 3rz is a 4 valve head, direct ignition and even better Mass Air Flow .

There is a 3rz in my future too. But, keep in mind even that engine is 20 years old. Yes, it did evolve, and it did improve over the years. But by 2014 standards it is now "old school."

3rz for my '85 some day...

Same with me, just need my 22RE to break to justify the swap. Also need to find a decent 3RZ around town before Pappy buys it up before me.

I am currently very happy with my 22RE, so I'm not exactly playing a vulture at the U-Pull.

Yep the design is without a doubt 20+ years! however in that time the advancements made have not been as big as a 22RE to the 3rz. The 3rz is a four valve twin overhead cam OBDII engine. Yes in the past 20 years there have been advancements in ECU's, the biggest being 16 to 32 bit, however I feel most of this is mostly for emission tuning. The big leap in engine building is the direct injection. With a GDI engine the compression can be raised without requiring high octane fuel to prevent pre ignition, higher compression gives you more power, faster ECU's will be able to manage the fuel and timing for both better MPG's and emissions.
