22r to 2f

A few minutes with a tape measure will tell you that it won't fit. The 2F is much longer and taller, not to mention it's a LOT heavier.

If you really want to swap engines, consider the Supra 5M/7M series, or even better the 3.4L V6.

I would like something with more power. I know 22r's are great because I have had 3. But there is no replacement for displacement. Maybe I will just go 350. Do you think that the drivetrain is up to it?

Or easiest and go 22R.....

You could do a 2F, just throw away the hood and relocate the radiator.... :D

Relocate it ahead of the bumper that is. ;)

Yep.

going in a 84 runner. Looking for something readily available, worthwhile, not unheard of, not pricey, and simple. By simple I mean one for one. I like carbuerted stuff cause I am old fashioned.

22R is going to be your best bet.

Carb'd
Bolts right in.
Dime a dozen,
run forever.

well I did some research and found that in order to get 300+/- hp on a 22r you would need about $10,000. Thats the cost of a LCE stroker long block, supercharger kit w/ carb and intake, plus accessories such as pulleys, wires dist etc. It is about $5000 less to Bolt in a crate 350 turn key w/ motor mounts to shy away from cutting frame, p/s box mounts, adapter to your tranny and/or t-case, and assy. Not only are 350 parts cheaper but more available. I think when the time comes I will go with the 350.

I still don't get the attraction and desire to have all that HP. Are you towing a big trailer? Get an F350. Do you want to go fast? Get a muscle car.

It's a Toyota. Toyota trucks don't go fast, and they aren't designed to. They are designed to last forever, take you to the ends of the earth and get you back. You can't get much simpler than the good ol' 22R engine. Very easy to work on, simple design that is VERY durable and reliable.

Put a cam in it, maybe some bigger valves, a header, and a 2-1/4" exhaust. Enjoy the ride, and all the money you'll save by not having to buy and install a 350, or feed it gas.

My Toy is very fast, for a 4runner. It will now run a 14.9 quarter at Bandimere in Denver.

I have less then 5grand in my swap but I did all my own labor. My swap was easy because it was already a v6. Fuel mods now are starting to add up in price though.

I would never swap a Carb engine in anything I own. They (in toyota applications) are more relaible then carbs. The drivability is way better cold and hot.

Most crate 350s for 5 grand or less make less hp then my 3.4l supercharged, get worse fuel economy, and will not last near as long.
