I'm looking to buy a new header for my 22R and was looking for some suggestions. I've found this header (its about half way down, part #701188 if you just want to do a ctrl+f). I'm wondering if $170 is too much to pay for a header like that.

Thanks!

From everything I've read in this forum, most are not thrilled with Pacesetters. I don't know because I've never used anything so "entry level". If price is the object , Pacesetters should probably give you $160.00 worth of service?????

X 2.... I know you hear this all the time but you get what you pay for....... I would go w/ a doug thourley header or a Downey header worth the price you pay.......... But that is just what i think I mean headers taht come painted w/krylon spary paint aren't that bad are they??? ha ha

Well it's hard to say, I've heard a lot of people complain about NWOR and I bought one of their headers about 7 years ago and it is still running around town in my old truck to this day in great shape. Hear-say is just that, I heard...

And by the Napa helicoil kit I meant that a lot of 22r/re exhaust studs have a tendency to strip the head out so it's not a bad idea to have the kit on hand when doing a header install. Napa makes a kit specifically for a 22r/re.

You can be certain if only one stud pulls threads, it will be the one wayyy in back of the engine crammed up next to the firewall where you can't get a good drilling angle.
I bought a LC Engineering header (ceramic coated stainless) for my 22RE many moons ago (2000) and have had no problems at all. I sure didn't want to spend so much money at the time. I paid $275 just for the header kit.
I believe they're still in business. They have LOTS of fun goodies for all the 20R through 22RE.

I had read a write up that the guy really did not like the Doug Thorley header because of numerous problems. But, I still got the Thorley header because the listed features showed that many of the problems this other guy had had were corrected. The price was really good too, $195 from Summit Racing. That's right, Summit Racing. They carry a lot of parts for the 22RE. The Thorley header has worked great and is still going strong.

I've been running a Thorley for about 7-8 years. No issues.
